so i have been curious to see how ocing effects everyones phone. does it kill the battery life or is it hardly noticable?

also what is the performance like. i know it will shoot the linpack scores up a bit but real world is it a difference?

ok so apparently no one has any info on this. i'm going to run the oc kernel over the weekend and see if i can't come up with some information for this thread.

I just flashed the OC kernel and was running it all day today the only thing I've noticed is slightly decreased battery life. The difference is negligible and the Battery life even OC still beats the hell out of the phone I came from (HTC Hero with all the tweaks) As for real world performance, of course it seems a bit snappier and has a bit less lag on some of the games for high end devices, but in reality the differences in load times are probably fractions of a second.

thats what i am thinking. i'm hoping that battery life won't be too wasted with a slight oc. lol sure beats the hell out of my tp1 running xdandroid and my moment running anything or nothing. but being the community we are, we always have that need to push everything as far as possible.

Flashing the kernel did break my battery meter; it'll stay at 100% for an hour or so then plummet to 60% over the course of the next hour, then hold there and slowly go down. Aside from that, seems like setting an 806mhz OC with a 245mhz min has helped battery life. Previously with light/moderate use I'd be able to get maybe 10 hours out of the battery. I'm sitting at 12 hours now on the battery and it's still at 54% (and since I was trying to fix the meter today, kinda want this to die so I can recharge it and go to sleep without having to worry about it being dead tomorrow morning). Admittedly though, with a broken meter it could just drop out and die in a few minutes, though it's still an improvement. Depending on what you set up, and how much CPU your phone normally uses (mine actually ends up staying underclocked most of the time) your miles may vary.

thanks for that. i'll try out 806 over the weekend. i'm getting about 10 hours on stock kernel (i use alot of data and exchange mail and games). there is a battery meter fix on here somewhere if you want the quick and easy to fixing the battery but a full charge and drain i'm sure will do just as good.

if the battery meter is wrong u need to wipe battery stats in recovery and retrain your battery. i think there is a thread somewhere.

I'm doing that, but it requires a full drain after the wipe and warns against charging while doing it :P

My phone has been off the charger for 2.5 hours so far today just idling and battery is down to 92%. That seems about normal to me. I got 14-16 hours of moderate use out of it yesterday.
