Odd apps keep reopening in background

I know this may sound odd. I am a new Android user and I love my phone but some apps like Amazon (which I use on a regular basis) keep reopening in the background after I close them. Same going with Facebook and Facebook messenger. This is after I do a force close etc. I am using the Stock version of android due to warranty reasons. Any ideas about how to change this?

I use a app called "Greenify" to fix that problem. When I had it on my rooted phone (Note2), it would do everything automatically. With my LG V10 (AT&T/not rooted) I have to manually hibernate programs. They stay that way, Using no power until you hit the icon for the specific app.

Do you clear them out with the bottom square button? Or do you leave them open? No need to force close. Don't have that problem (Verizon) here.

I clear it out but then check later and they are back up and running,

I will try that. Thank you for that.
