Odd experience after underwater use.

Do you have a screen protector? There's been some speculation that water gets under the screen protector, and makes the screen think it's being multi pressed (capacitance change maybe?).

The quiet speaker is to be expected, water sitting in the grill will stop sound passing through, should be fine as soon as it dries out.

As you can probably assume from my picture, I took my S6 Active under water and had a bad response, too. It was only a foot or so under and I went under 3 times to get a few underwater selfie pics. It was fine for about 5 minutes. Then the speaker got real quiet and distorted. About 1/2 hour later it started freaking out, turning the screen off and on, then 1/2 the screen was blank. I couldn't even get the screen on long enough to try to reboot it. THEN it was just a black screen and it kept beeping. I had only had it for a week and had just committed to paying $700 to AT&T for the thing. I literally thought I was going to puke. Luckily after about 2 hours it started acting normal again. It didn't "fast charge" for a couple charges but now is all fine. I will NOT be taking it under water again and am really disappointed because living in South Florida, I spend a lot of time at the pool and was really excited about the possibilities of having fun with it in the pool with my kids, too.
I am with you. I won't take my phone in the water.

I took mine on the pool about a month ago and had no problems... knock on wood... took about 10 pics and 5 videos underwater. The only protection i have is a glass invisible shield screen protector. Took it out of the water shook it off a lil incase water was in the USB port or headphone jack. Then turned on Pandora, sent a couple texts, and posted to fb with no problems. Hate to hear everybody is having problems... love this phone! Went kayaking yesterday and it started pouring rain. I pulled out my phone to check the radar, and it got soaked. Still no trouble. My buddies thought I was crazy for using in the rain but after I told em about it and they saw it functioned fine, they want 1 now...

Took mine into the pool for some photos and just like most of the other users here, found that the headphone and usb jacks behaved very erratically until they were dry.

No screen cover, and no crazy software/screen issues.

After the pool, there were times that the unit thought it was docked, and even after a few hours when it was bedtime, I tried plugging it in to charge and it wouldn't. That freaked me out! I got up immediately and used a blowdryer to dry out the USB port. After the first time, it would charge, but no quickcharge. Then another couple of minutes of blowdrying (and cursing), then the unit behaved normally.

The unit is working well now, but I really don't know if I'd risk bringing it back into water again. I did order some USB port plugs from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU4653621), but haven't had a chance to test under water. They also don't fit that well, they seem too loose. Anyway, I'm glad I haven't permanently damaged my S6 Active, because this is easily the best phone I've owned in every other regard.

Oh yah, another note: when paired to a BT speaker and playing music, as soon as it is submerged, the music pauses and as soon as you take it out, it will resume the music (not that cool for when you're having a pool party and taking photos/videos underwater).

Doesn't OtterBox make a case for this phone to protect the parts on it? They are kind of expensive though so I'm sure the plugs he got on Amazon would work too. And are y'all buying your phone from AT&T or getting the refurbished ones off of ebay? Also maybe see about contacting AT&T or Samsung or whoever in get a replacement without having to use the Insurance

Are y'all getting your phones new from AT&T or buying refurbished ones? And also I wonder if you could use the manufacturer warranty and get them replaced without having to use Insurance deductible

I exchanged mine for a new and haven't had any issues with it. I've gone under water a couple of times without any problems, although it was probably at least 20 minutes or so before I used it again after being wet. I will look into getting port plugs later for underwater use, especially where there is sand. It does take some pretty awesome underwater pictures and videos.

My phone was new from AT&T. You should be able to get it replaced under warranty. Insurance shouldn't come into place unless you physically destroy it or it is out of warranty.

That's cool you got it swapped out and haven't had any problems with the new one. I haven't had any problems with mine, taking it under water, but after seeing how many other people have I'm thinking about getting an OtterBox for when I do use it in the water

Nope, no more problems. The only other thing that would be nice is a flotation device for it. If I am in water with low visibility, it wouldn't be good if I dropped.

Ya I thought the same thing when kayaking. Incipio made a flotation case for the s4 active but haven't seen for s6 yet. Check out shopandroid.com they have 1 called "overboard" that floats.I might grab 1 of those...

I have found that after taking it into the pool or ocean, my USB port doesn't work and the speakers are very quiet. I always make sure to run fresh water over the ports and blow any left over water out. Then I let it dry for about an hour and it works fine. Residue from the water will build up and cause issues.

I have taken my phone swimming in lakes, oceans, pools, rivers. It works just fine after running fresh water over it.

I'm not having a good experience at all with my Active. This past weekend, I went to a splash park with my kids and took some pictures. After getting splashed with water, the device screen blacked out, rebooted and eventually stopped responding. I noticed fog and beads of water inside the front facing and rear camera. I sat the device next to a dehumidifier in my basement for a few hours and the screen came back on. However, the physical back button responds after several presses or a long press in apps.

I've had my device for less than a week after a screen repair due to a small crack in the lcd. The Samsung authorized service center RSI performed the repair on 8/28. Maybe the seal wasn't seated properly after the repair? Anyways, I'll be back on the phone/chat with support today to find out my options for replacement on this IP68 rated device that is experiencing issues due to water. Wish me luck.

Let us know how things turn out

My Active just went haywire for 15 minutes after its first swimming pool adventure. Wasn't more than a foot underwater for a total of a minute. Left it on side of pool and:

-screen went blank except for small flickering "X's" in the bottom corners.

-an endless partial audio Loop of a female audio voice prompting me as if I was in some sort of initialization sequence.

(Edit 2: it was the Gear VR setup. Regular S6 and Edge owners have also reported Gear VR setup opening at random and freezing the phone for 10 minutes. So I can't presume this was caused just by water immersion]

-I couldn't remember the Soft Reset sequence so I put it in bag of rice, then 10 minutes later the audio Loop stopped and phone was acting normal.

-except I got visual prompt "the Power sharing cable has been installed. Power will continue to be discharged even if no receiving device is connected" I have no idea what this is.

My phone had a Bodyguardz screen protector installed. I wonder if the water droplets kept causing screen inputs, causing the haywire?

In any case, I'm a swimmer. So much for the primary reason I bought this phone. 😕

I just got this phone about 2 months ago and was excited to use it in aqua mode underwater. It worked fine while useing it but 4 hours later turned on my battery sharing, witch I didn't know I could do lol, and I just reset the phone, didn't help, plugged my charger in for 30 seconds and unplugged and it went right away. But no issues other then that.
Phone version 5.0.2
Making a note to samsung of this issue tonight.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AQUA MODE DOES WORK BUT WILL RUIN YOUR PHONE IF YOU DO NOT READ!!!!

Aqua mode and your Samsung device are not truly water resistant. I just spoke to samsung for over an hour and they charger port needs to be plugged with special pieces to be taken UNDERWATER. They will not replace your device but they will look at it. Their protocol says to look at it, and if you caused the water damage, the phone is not under warranty. MAKE NOTE OF THIS!!!!!!!! And cannot give replacement while looking at the phone.

They definitely don't advertise this charger port plug requirement

Are you sure they weren't mistaken regarding which model of phone you were talking about? The S5 Active required the plugs that came with it, but S6 Active has no such plugs, correct? Does Samsung even sell plugs for the S6 Active? If they require use of plugs underwater, they should have been included with the phone, and the manual should say so.
