I know modern Samsungs on big carriers have little to no chance at being rooted. What about LG? I've never had one before.
There's some people working on it on XDA. The exploit used in the V20 was patched in the February or March security update so a new exploit needs to be found.I know modern Samsungs on big carriers have little to no chance at being rooted. What about LG? I've never had one before.
You left out a couple of the most important parts... An exploit has to be found and released and most likely a Dev is going to have to take the time to fork off a custom TWRP for the G6. Six months in and the V20 does not have an official TWRP.Typically pretty easy. Just have to unlock the bootloader through ADB, install a custom recovery and install your root application.

I think that How To, if it's the same one being talked about over at XDA, was reverse engineered and found to be mostly advertising.Oh, I just did a Google search and found a "how to" and figured it was done already. Reading the above, sounds like needs some work.

Important? Just depends what you are after. Is root that important these days? I haven't rooted since the Droid X when phones had a lot more bloatware running in the background. I know people also like to root to avoid paying hotspot fees.
