ODIN available anywhere other than ACS?

You need just the program Odin or are you looking for the ROM (Odin tar files) ?

Odin 1.85 Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

I got it downloaded, Paul. It's from QBKing77's instructions on getting GB rooted. I think the file name is Odin 3-v1.85.zip .

NOW my problem is that when I put the phone into 'Download' mode, Odin doesn't show the yellow box that tells me Odin recongnizes the phone. Seems that I need a Samsung driver? I'm using Windows Vista 64 bit - is there a particular driver to find and download somewhere?

This s*it never goes well for me..

You can find the drivers on samsungs website.

Samsung

I found and downloaded the driver, Odin recognized it and gave me a com4, I hit start, it FAILED, and now my phone is DEAD! Can't turn it on, no light indicating a charge, nothing. Did I brick the phone??

My screen shows:

a cell phone..yellow triangle with an exclamation point..a computer.

I tried removing the battery, connecting phone to usb, re-installing battery, and then vol down, camera, and power buttons. It just goes back to the above screen.

Help!

I was able to get to an Android system recovery <3e> screen. I then wiped data/factory reset (thinking I was heading that way anyhow). It shows 'Data wipe complete.' now, and I have the options to -

reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

What should I try?

If you have the update on your sd card, then I would just do the update.

What exactly are you trying to get done?

I had done the manual update to GB the other day, and it went fine. But, the GPS no longer would hold a fix. I asked around and was shown a fix that required me to root the phone, install CWM, etc. It was during that process that I totally screwed it up.

OK, so we are trying to get you back to Stock EI22. So if you can run the update to get back to stock, do that. If you can't, use the link I provided a few posts up to get back to stock and then go from there.

Once you get back to stock, there are youtube videos that show what you need to do to get rooted and install cwm.

Are you at least booted up fully?

If you are, EC05 will actually download itself and prompt you to install.

If you aren't getting to the point where you can actually use the phone, then yes you need to do the restore in that thread.

I am at the

'Downloading...
Do not turn off Target!!!'

screen with the yellow triangle and the Android guy with a shovel. So I think I need to do the restore. Does that sound right to you?

At that point you are ready to do the restore. Restore to EC05 and then you will be back to where you were before the update.

Well, I'm hopeful. The EC05 download is just about done - I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for your help.

SUCCESS!!!

Phone is back to Firmware 2.2.1, Baseband version EC05, Build number FROYO.EC05. Thanks lafountain for your help, and Paul for the post on how to re-boot!

Now, before I update to GB, do I need to go outside to get a good GPS lock?? Will that possible eliminate the GPS issue?
