rooted my phone using odin and had no problem.

installed twrp with odin, and (seemingly) no problem. it says i passed, and phone resets normally. but when i try to boot into recovery (via goomanager, or rom installer), it says 'could not do normal boot.' and the only way i can get it to turn on is to use odin to again install twrp. after i do that, my phone works completely fine. i can turn it off and back on with no problem. but after i try to boot into recovery mode, i again have to use odin to 'install' twrp. and no matter how many times i do this with odin, i can never boot into recovery.

been at it for hours. at this point im thinking of just unrooting the phone and giving up. ive researched so many threads and cant find my specific problem.

so i unrooted using kingo root app, and tried to do a factory reset on my phone. but im getting the 'could not do normal boot' problem. im ready to be done with the root stuff. but now i want to fix this problem so if i need to factory reset in the future ill be able to.

Well, he normally does wonderful root tutorials. However, the video was rather old, and there may have been an update that broke that root method.

Since you are having issues rebooting, you can try reflashing a stock ROM which should fix any errors that may have happened, and fully unroot your device.

You should be able to find your files at either Sammobile or samsung updates .com.

I rooted using Towelroot (make sure you have the latest version). Install, open, click on "Make it Ra1n", reboot. But I don't believe your problem is a result of rooting.

I'm no guru by any stretch of the imagination, surely someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you either tried to install an incorrect version of TWRP or something went wrong when using Odin. You didn't say which carrier you have or whether you're running JB or KK, but Verizon KK can't be unlocked yet (to my knowledge). So I've been using Nova Launcher to do a little customizing until someone comes up with a solution.

This worked for a friend's GN3 after he installed an early version of TWRP and couldn't get past the "could not load" nag at boot time: Press volume up, home and power at the same time. When the warning screen appears, press the volume down button to cancel. It may boot normally now, though it doesn't fix the entire problem. You may have to wait until the proper version comes out for your phone and try reinstalling. Just my .02, hope it helps.
