Off topic....question on VZW iPhone 4...

I was curious and perusing ebay looking at vzw iphone 4's... there a several listed as new or like new but with bad ESNs.

How and Why would that be??

A bad ESN is usually the result of a phone that has been reported stolen or lost. As far as I know from working as tech support for a wireless company before, the phone cannot be a activated on the original network or any other network. The phones you see on Ebay are normally bought for spare parts or testing apps.

I know why the ESN is bad.... but these phones are going for upward of $400-$500! Many of them are brand new. Does VZW offer insurance on the iphone??

Also, a VZW phone with bad ESN CAN be activated on CRICKET....

The only way you can get ins on a phone covered by Verizon is it has to be bought from a corporate or a retailer for Verizon. Ebay has an ins co for electronics. Squaretrade

Because I am an Incredible owner and was just curious about something I saw and thought would ask the people I am used to being around their opinion.
