So, on my Moto X I had an email app that seemed to be the stock android app for email. When I entered my office365 account info for work, my email and calendar synced with the phone. Now, I have no 'stock' email app on the X5. I downloaded Outlook and I can only see my calendar within the Outlook app. How do I get my Office365 account to sync with the phone, so the phone's calendar is connected?

Nope... same issue. It will only populate calendar events within the app. The native 'calendar' remains empty of any Office event.

^^^^^ That's a good suggestion. I don't do this because it's not permitted by my company's IT policy.

Nope... I added the account to the GMail app and selected to sync the calendar too... but I got absolutely nothing in the Google Calendar app. On the Outlook app I could at least see the calendar events in the Outlook app. Using the Gmail app I couldn't even see that account, despite getting email via the Gmail app.

I really don't understand why. I don't get the Google Now integration using the Outlook app that I had with my calendar events being in the native calendar when I was using it on my MotoX. I cannot be the only one with this issue... right???

I don't have the 5X on me right now. I'll have to look when I get home. I am tempted to say the only email app is Gmail.

As for connecting the Outlook calendar to Google, the only thing I can think of is maybe exporting it to Google? I have no experience with this, but maybe that will work?

It's not a free app, but Nine puts the calendar into the Google calendar. That's what I've been using since TouchDown (which had precious few ways of accessing the calendar).

I'm still annoyed that Google Calendar Sync was discontinued.

I set Outlook to text me my daily agenda in the morning. But it looks like even that isn't supported anymore.
