Official 6/28 Update Thread - Discuss Here

Unfortunately, all devices usually get a few "broken" ones after a software update. It sucks when it happens, but luckily they'll be able to fix you up at a Sprint store right away and definitely for free.

One thing you could do to help is list all of the Apps you had installed on your EVO to see if a culprit can be found.

The Sprint store here didn't have any to replace it with on the spot, so they had to order one. Hopefully it will be in tomorrow afternoon.

Kinda kills two birds with one stone since I was also having the screen separation issue as well.

I didn't have any apps that were too crazy on the device:
Full Google Suite
Twitter
Facebook
Last.FM
ATK
Weather Channel
Handcent SMS

A bunch of others, but none that were consistently running. Not sure if it was an app issue or more just an unlucky break.

Bummed a bit, but it happens.

downloaded and updated, now it seems bricked. I cant get passed the white htc evo 4g screen. battery pulls do nothing. tech support says i have to have a tech look at it and/or get a new phone.

anyone else having trouble updating? I've battery pulled it a few times and it is still stuck on the htc evo 4g screen.

So after a call to CS and a trip to a sprint store the results are in. I am screwed. The update bricked me and there are no EVO's in the area to replace it with and they could not reflash it. Thanks Sprint, great foresight. There must be a planned failure rate for this update but not having the stock in stores to correct it is really unforgivable. Now I am out of an expensive phone by no fault of my own and now "on the list" (on a sticky note no less) , but I have been "bumped to the top" for a new EVO. Thanks again Sprint!

That just sucks dude..... Sprint is just trying to fix the issue...... My update took less than 10 minutes from initial download to fully updated.... No problems it went smooth.....

updated and it does seem to do a bit better

i bought mine last week and it already had the previous update installed

Regardless of what HTC says about the wi-fi changes, before the update I could not even see the wireless network in my office. Now I see it and when I connect I have 2 bars signal. Maybe not scientific, but a definite improvement as far as I am concerned.

After updating, I can't enable wi-fi (I get an "Unable to start wi-fi" error) or 4G (just stays at "turning on"). I did notice that during the update, I got some weird icon briefly... looked like a chip with a red ! in a triangle. Anyone know what that means? I tried updating again but it says my phone is up to date...

Re: 6/28 Update Watch...

My evo is doing strange things after update.......

Keys are randomly hitting. Bottom buttons are not responding at all sometimes.

Not sure if this is swype conflicting but it is very annoying

Sent from my EVO4G using tapatalk pro.

Took a while and a few scary reboots plus the hang on 4G screen to get updated, but it was fine. Just give it time, people, and quit panicking and trying to do something if it isn't instantaneous.

* After reboot, Google Voice barfed up an error that it wasn't able to update the Inbox until I went into settings and reactivated background data services. I don't recall what it was set to before.

* The Automatic Task Killer, LED Light, and one other widget I can't recall what it was blanked out.

* The Sprint TV and HTC HTC Music gadgets failed.

* Swiping down notification shade seems much more consistent. Far fewer instances of the clock or weather coming up instead.

* Not home, so I can't vouch for wifi strength.

Sucks that the killed Shoot Me. How is it that the ONLY device that can't do screen shots without major hacking is Android. Makes no sense.

Most of my widget got some problem to reload, i have to reset every widget.

Better Battery life with 6/28 update?

Is this this just the placebo effect or are any others noticing WAY better battery life? i have 4 hours use now with live wallpaper (the sickest wallpaper, Mario) with wifi and auto screen brightness and my phone is still at 90%. This could just be me, but i am amazed. I am also noticing better CDMA signal. usually its around 15-20% signal loss at work and now i am at 0%.

Has anyone else noticed a difference?

idk, i was browsing for like 6 the web for like 5 or 6 minutes and my baterry didnt go down a percent. i think it used to go down atleast a percent in that 5 minute time span. too early to tell though.

mine is working better after update, but I better knock on wood after reading some of these replies. sheesh

Anyone else see an improvement in 4G? Sitting at my desk at work before I could sometimes connect to 4G, but never usable (~200kbps down if it worked at all). Now I still get the one bar, but I get speeds over 2000kbps. Outdoor reception remains the same, if I walk out onto the balcony 3 feet away from my desk it jumps up to 3 bars like before, and has comparable speeds.

I may actually have a reason to turn on 4G now.

Just finished updating. Grounding issue is fixed! I can drag the notification bar to my heart's content when the Evo is on a flat surface...

Amen.... I can't really say mine is working any better but I am not having any issues what so ever either.... Every thing seems to be working just fine.. I use Swype as my keyboard and I don't have any issues with it either...

Even over the 3G network I was able to download, install and be back up and running with the new update in 15 minutes tops.... It all went fast and smooth for me.... Even got the confirmation that I am officially updated to the latest version so it's not like it didn't take.....

I never had WiFi issues... My signal meter read strong full bars while next to the router and only dropped off 1 - 2 bars when moving around my house and yard... Oh one thing that is with out a doubt fixed is swiping the notification bar down when laying flat on the couch or soft surface.... Never would have known that was an issue before people started talking about it but that appears to be fixed...

Fixed notification bar issues it seems. Don't know about wifi as I'm at work atm and seems faster a far as scrolling and so on lol. I like this update

Can anyone confirm wifi n working?
