Official Android 4.0.3 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is it not a phone?
When we bought one at work, Verizo assigned a phone number to it.

So what. My mifi has a phone number assigned to it also. It isn't a phone either. Ipads have phone numbers assigned to them as well, they are not phones either.

Calm sir, please. I was asking to find out, not to be sarcastic.
When I bought it, I had to either have a business account or provide my SSN and I was told that the fact that a phone number was assigned to it was the reason.
Incidentally, though, the iPad we bought definately does not have a phone number attached to it

Ok, this time I am being sarcastic when I point out that your link states
"Mobile identification number (or MIN) refers to the 10-digit unique number that a Wireless carrier uses to identify a mobile phone."
:)

Which is different than your phone number. Go to settings>about>status. You'll see your phone number, and then immediately below that, your MIN. They're two different things. Tablets have an MIN. They do not have a phone number.

Oh, and the iPad has an MIN as well.

All iPads, or just the 3G iPads? We have one of each, but it's not hooked up to 3G.

I don't think you can "fix" the reception with software (I have followed the threads that have opinions to the contrary).

If it is a design flaw with the hardware, then probably not. The thing is that these radios do digital signal processing, so the software that is used in that processing can be updated and improve how the radio functions.

I flashed the leaked 4.0.3 baseband files and my reception is much more stable now. It drops the 3g signal much less often and the download speeds have been higher in the 3 weeks since I flashed than they were in the 2 weeks before.

I know a sample size of 1 doesn't make a valid test, but either those files greatly improved my user experience with this phone or I've had one hell of a coincidence with my service in this area getting better right when I rebooted after flashing those files.

I should add that 4g won't be coming here until summer/fall this year, so I can't comment on whether the leaked files improve the 3g/4g handoff issues.
