Official Battery Life Thread

Was this basically with screen off most of the time? Any sort of use on my old Gnex and I would be closer to 50% for display usage.
During the day (the 7 hour graph), the screen was off other than to reply to a few texts and emails. This evening (the 2 hour stint) it was off completely - other than to check battery usage and to take and email screenshots.

Some people have awesome battery life I only get about 10 hours before its in the verge of dying!! I don't know what to do??

Ten hours is good on an lte phone. How many hours are you using the screen?

I had 10 hours today and listened to music for 2.5 hours while I worked out. Pretty happy about that. And I don't even have the extended battery.

Do i have a bad battery?

My battery is dying incredibly fast. On day one, I ran LTE only to see how it would do and it lasted 6.5 hours, which i thought was normal.

Today I have installed Juice Defender and running 3G only. I do a lot of texting, have been playing a little words with friends and angry birds, and very light twitter reading. The battery is nearly dead already. If i didn't have a charger at work, in my car, and at home, this phone would be useless.

Can someone help here? I know I'm spoiled about batteries coming from BlackBerry but this thing dies WAY to fast.

I've had the phone about a week now and still not seeing very good battery life. I charged the battery last night, then took it out of the phone. Placed it back in this morning, at it started at 91%. Defective battery? But I got about 8 hours on it, with 30 minutes of music, prob 100 texts, some words with friends (which appears to be a big offender on the battery), and some web surfing.

Re: Do i have a bad battery?

Are you seeing Words eating up battery life too?

Its usually 3rd on the list of battery usage. My screen is always the biggest battery consumer.

I would that the 91% is normal after leaving it off the charger for that long. 8 hours seems pretty good with that usage, but I keep reading about people getting upper teens with that usage.

Are you using 3G or 4G?

I've recently uninstalled a 3D clock and weather widget and switched to beautiful widgets. Maybe it was a factor? Going to dim the screen down as well and see what happens. Tired of having to charge the damn thing.

It went down to 91% without being in the phone. I charged it, took it out, placed it back in in the morning, and it dropped without ever being attached to the phone. Just seemed odd.

I've been keeping it on 3G to attempt to save battery life but I'm in a pretty strong 4G area so I don't know that it's necessary.

I bought and extended battery when I bought my phone so my experiences are based on that battery. what I'm seeing is hugely different battery life based on if my phone is on wifi vs lte. So far I've not tweaked anything and I'm running exchange email and gmail mostly. I'm using a few apps from time to time and of course sms and phone. So when I first bought the phone I was getting around 10 hours on the battery. That was based on waking up, driving to work on bluetooth for around 30 minutes. Being at work and coming home again on bluetooth. The whole time always on lte. I'd get home and be around 25% or so and run out around 8-9pm.

So over the xmas holiday I was home mostly on wifi with a few outings to the store mostly doing phone and sms type activity. Not doing much exchange but some gmail. I run an app called juice plotter that gives me a widget on the screen telling me how long my battery will last based on my usage. Well monday night when I went to bed my phone was still near full and the widget was saying I had 20 hours left. That was after a good 14-15 hours of day. This morning it said I had 32 hours available when I woke up.

Today I put it on wifi at work. I've forgot to bring my tablet in so I've been using it a lot today. I got up at 6am and now it is a bit after 1pm. The widget is saying I have over 12 hours left.

So for me the key thing appears to be LTE that drains my battery. No surprise. I'm going to try letting it run on LTE again tomorrow just to make sure my Battery didn't just get supper powerful in the past week or so :) After I get a good LTE usage pattern I'm gonna try using JuiceDefender and see if that helps.

So far I think the battery life is pretty good but will take some management.

so is the Android OS high because of the 3G/4G issues? i never really check the battery status until today and i couldve sworn that the display was usually at the top of the battery usage list.

I have LTE turned off because we dont have lte in my area. I have google + disabled and all kinds of other tricks I have read on here and still my battery life gets no better. I will have to check my screen hours tonight before I charge again to see what its at.

100% stock and nothing tweaked just auto brightness standard battery thus was like 90% wifi

OK, I have read through posts and it seems like people are getting very different results.........I see a lot of usage screenshots but people never show how much time the screen has actually been on. Tonight my battery seemed to go really quick.....there have been signal issues all day and I thought maybe that was contributing to it, but it appears the screen is killing it.....How is this comparing to other people? The screen is set on auto-brightness and has been in mostly dark places so has not been set bright.....What are everyone's thoughts? .....also......This is with the extended battery.
