According to Sprint, the Optimus S is now being shipped with Gingerbread.

someone will take this, de bloat it, sync it with the CM7 goodies, and well hopefully get a rom with better battery life and with everything working properly!
 
According to posters in the Optimus S forums, they have contacted Sprint and gotten confirmation that NEW Optimus S phones are being shipped with 2.3, but there is no indication of an update to existing phones.

This means it may be harder to grab what's needed, but the community will figure it out! ;)

custom recovery, nandroid, rip that apart. cant that be done in any way? not ideal to having the source but it shouldnt be too difficult to get?
