[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

Anyone seeing an issue where when you hit the Home button, you first get an HTC logo screen, then you see your home screen background with nothing and all the icons & widgets (slowly) repopulate? I know of at least 2 other people besides me who are seeing this somewhat frequently (maybe 5% of the time we go back to the Home screen).

Nope, I can't say I do. I've hit mine ike ten times, and it always bring me bac k to my home page.

What I've notice is the 'cursor' bouncing from one place to another. It got very sensitive. I hope they get this fix soon.

Yeah. This is my biggest downer with the GB OTA. It takes about 10 seconds for the home screens to reload. Talk about lag. Apparently, they're being dumped from the memory when I go to an app.

I have tried for two days to update. My Evo keeps showing a box that says checking. I have done the battery pull at least ten times and still no go. I have switched from 3g/4g/wifi and still no go. Last night I left phone on and had the update running with the checking box showing, woke up and it was still checking!!! WTF is going on???
Same here. Frustrating. And I'd rather not resort to a hard reset to get Gingerbread.

I'm also seeing this but more like 80% of the time I come out of an app. Stock EVO, nothing fancy.

have you tried a true Restart? (not Fast Boot).

Yup! I've mentioned this a couple times in this thread and not a single reply! You must have asked better? Though really it's just sense being pushed out of memory by other apps. Usually happens when running a memory intensive app or two. for some reason sense isn't as high priority anymore?

Hopefully they get a patch out to fix this as well as the other problems soon. This is actually my biggest issue with the update. When sense crashes it also has to reload your apps stored on your sd card into the app drawer.

The only issue I have is Netflix. But I can live with it, bcuz I'm sure it will be corrected. There is no such thing as perfection, on initial release.

hard reset?

Not a hard reset - power down completely and restart. If by hard reset you mean factory reset and reload, no.

Which does lead me to a question - on a non-rooted phone, what is the best way to do a backup, full reset to a "clean" phone, and then restore to what I had before the reset, including "look" (background, page setup, etc.), and user data? I do use AppBrain and Lookout.

IMO - i would do a hard reset (factory fresh clean state) complete wipe/erase. then, manually reinstall everything back one by one WITHOUT the use of a backup/restore app like MyBackUp or Lookout. this is the only way to start fresh. do this by syncing back to Gmail and syncing back to Market. as far as the Personalize settings - i would just do this manually too. yes it's a PIA - but it's the only way to be sure you start fresh.

good luck.

Copying text no longer works in Dolphin HD browser. Also, once and a while my camera will start up with a blank screen. And can now no longer get to weather from desk clock (tapping on temp would usually bring me to a 5day forecast).

Quick question. After you do a hard reset do you have to go to software updates and reinstall gingerbread again first or does it restart straight to gingerbread? I too am getting the HTC logo when I hit "back" or "home" after I'm in am app or on the browser. <annoying>
