Official Gingerbread update

Any one have the zip file yet. Running 4.5.153. Would like to update with having to go back to foryo. Any help?

Its very Blue. Can I change the color?

Nope, you can't. Even using something like ADW Launcher and different themes won't change the blue notifier bar nor the blue dialer buttons, nor the bright grey unlock keys, etc. I tried already. I hate that some many "graphic designers" default to blue for every damn thing since it's a "neutral" color - so they say. I think grey is far more neutral. Windows does everything blue so I use a dark theme. In Ubuntu I use a nice black theme.

I really wish I didn't upgrade my phone. I may sound psychotic being so annoyed by the color but I don't care - it bothers me.

Not just that but now many apps have a big grey box where there's no data present when the app used to use the main app color to fill it in. So now my Weather.com app has a grey box under my locations when it used to be blue, my K-9 mail has a grey box when it used to be black below my accounts, etc. It's embarrassing to look at that mess of a new gui.

What does SBF mean?!?!?!?!?!

I was forced to d/l this update 8 hours ago and I'm currently at 43%
I vaguely remember using Z4 to root at some point.
No way to cancel, and so worried this is foing to end badly.

Turn off your data and wipe the root out if your worried about it. It can't download if your not connected.

I reconfirmed that I'm rooted, used Z4Root to unroot. Hard reset phone, downloaded w no problems.
Failed to install.

Justin. I hate to say it, but the update does not play well with rooted phones, period. The only way to solve the problem is to flash an SBF file using RSD Lite. I believe there are some instructions on this in the root subforum and I know I've seen instructions on other sites as well. best bet is to back up all of your apps with titanium backup, flash the SBF to go back to out-of-the-box Froyo, and then get the update. The reason I suggest using Titanium is that you can quickly and easily refresh all of your apps with their saved info once you re-root without needing to download from the market all over again. Other than this, you're basically stuck with Froyo

It keeps redownloading & the installing. It does this on its own and I can't stop it. I called Verizon earlier from the phone and they were like "Oh call back and our technical dept can assist you" lol. Now I'm at a pc and I have already downloaded the RSD & SBF the other day. I believe someone already did this for me back when I (stupidly) deleted something I should not have, crashing the phone.

But I've had it rooted since then. Hmm. Here we go!

ETA I called Verizon again and they had me take out the SD card and try again, yeah that didn't work.
I think I just redid the SBF, hard reset the phone and set up Google again.
Redownloading Gingerbread :S

I didnt get a pop up notification i had to manually pull the update.

I love it!!!!! I noticed that when you go to contacts it sends you to the contact in the dialer. Which kinda sucks and i figured out how to change viewing every single contact! I got annoyed with that. I happy there was an option for it! It is a lot more responsive. Maybe this gingerbread will fix all the issues i was having with the fone! Wait and pray!

Downloaded GB tonight. Took about 1/2 hr. I'm in south eastern MI.

I had z4root on froyo, just clicked unroot, then let the update do its thing and it worked fine.

I like the new color scheme, and performance scrolling around seems better too. I run launcher pro, so can't comment on the new motoblur stuff. Battery life seems about the same. My a key still sticks. Haven't tried z4rooting again yet, not sure if that will work.

What is easiest way to update from 4.5.153 to 4.5.601 without losing saved game date. Like paradise island.

I was running the leaked version of gingerbread on my D2, but I SBFed back to 2.2 and got the offical GB update from Verizon. Everything is working just fine except for one thing. It seems like the reception is worse than before. Maybe it's just in my head, but I can't help feeling like my phone had better reception bars with the stock 2.2 and leaked 2.3. It also seems like my phone switches into 1x data mode a lot more now.

Has anyone else noticed a decrease in reception after they updated to GB?

Thanks!

I have a Droid R2-D2 and this morning to a great surprise I received GINGERBREAD!!!!!!!!!!! I actually thought it would never happen. :)

I was out of the country when they first released Gingerbread for the D2 Global. When I check for updates now it says my phone is up to date. I saw that the release was pulled because of a bug. Has anybody been able to get the update for the D2G in the last couple of days?

No. I was in country, but the update wouldn't take (tried 3 times). As I've seen reported elsewhere it'd fail (at installation, dl was fine) at approx. 25% completion. I've checked a couple times each of the last few days but they've clearly pulled the update as they work out the kinks.
