Has anyone seen this activated yet? According to Verizon support it is only going to be available on Verizon purchased Pixel 3s. I'm really hoping they are just wrong.

Hmm, this may be the case. My wife and I both have Pixel 3 XLs on Verizon bought off the Google store and we are not seeing RCS activity yet. Not sure if there was a time to start looking for it, or if you need to use the Verizon messaging app, or any type of update, but as of 1 minute ago....nope.

It's like any update. It takes time.

You might encounter a welcome prompt in Messages noting that the feature is live, or can check Settings > Advanced > Chat features. Additionally, conversations with supported users will note “Chat message” in the reply field instead of “Text Message.”

The Message+ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.verizon.messaging.vzmsgs application has supported RCS-like capabilities (sent; delivered; typing) when communicating with someone else using the same app for quite awhile.

Nothing here for me, either. I cannot find anything in the Google Messanger app settings about "chat" or "chat features".

I recently switched over to Verizon's Messanges+ app due to it working over wifi. Where I work, its a basement floor and I do not get any service. Google Messanger would not send or receive messanges consistently. At times it would, but then stopped. I'd have to turn off Wifi and turn it back on or turn on Airplane mode for it to work, but even then it was inconsistent. The Verizon app has worked flawlessly.

I'm hoping whenever this rolls out, it fixes this issue on my end. I'd like to use the Google app exclusively.

Hopefully this makes it to Google Fi. I'm surprised Google pushed this do hard, hut failed to launch it on their own service and no announcements of it even rolling out anytime in the future.

Well Fi runs on the 3 carriers so Google can't control what those carriers support. They just rent space on their networks. That's why no announcement or anything. If those 3 already did support it then I'd expect Google to say something maybe but their default messaging app already does RCS. It is the carrier back end they're waiting on.

Wife got the update on her not pink Pixel 3. Went in to messages and asked if she wanted to enable it. Still nothing on my black Pixel 3

I got the message to enable the settings last night finally. White Pixel 3 bought from Google. Have not been able to see it in action though since I'm the only person I know with a Pixel.

We bought a two for work from Verizon, one of us got it this AM the other did not. So seems to be very random, we are in Washington State however that doesn't seem to matter with the roll out.
