Hi everyone. I thought I'd share some thoughts and pictures of 2 Xoom cases I've purchased, the Official Xoom case and a Navitech branded Case

Xoom case cost: ?34.99
Navitech case cost: ?14.99

Both cases in their packaging

Navitech case:

First off, the cheaper of the two. My wife ended up with a ?15 Amazon voucher after we subscribed to LoveFilm UK and as I needed a case at the time, I she ordered me this one. This arrived in the post this morning and fitted it today.

Design:
This is pretty much a standard portfolio case with easy access to the power, camera, headphone jack and volume buttons. There is a hinged kickstand on the back that only has one setting but seems angled ok for me when typing with it standing on a table. The front cover flips all the way over so the kickstand rests on the back making it secure on your lap.

Design and cutouts.

Tapping away on the screen there is little to no movement of my Xoom and it seems pretty sturdy. The Xoom is held in place by two elastic tabs in the bottom corner and these seem strong enough.

Negatives:
There is no easy access to the HDMI, charging or USB ports which is a pity and the Sim/Sd card slot is blocked by the top of the case. There is also an issue with the front facing camera becoming obscured by the front leather (pictured below). I'm also unsure of the longevity of the ribbon that holds the kickstand in place as it seems quite thin & I'm not entirely sure if it is leather as it smells kind of plasticky but this may wear over time.

Overall my Xoom fits in it ok, seems sturdy when the kickstand is used and is at a comfortable angle for me. Not a bad case for the price!

Official Xoom Case:

Next up is the official Motorola Manufactured Xoom case.

Design:
The Xoom case is a plastic case with tight gripping moulded plastic holding the Xoom in place. Unlike the Navitech case above it has three different viewing angles and is propped up by the base of the Xoom fitting into three notches. To insert you simply slide the unit into the top of the case and then clip the remaining two notches over your xoom to secure it whilst it's closed.

You have easy access to the Sim/memory card slot, volume buttons, speakers and the camera. The front facing cam is perfectly viewable too which is nice!

Negatives:
Whilst in the Xoom case at the three different levels, there is a little wobble for me making me feel a little dubious to it's stability. I'm also not 100% sold on the plastic upper being used against the tablet to hold it closed, I would have preferred a magnetic tab like the case above myself. Once again, there is no access to the HDMI, USB or charging port when closed.

I didn't have the case fitted properly in these pics but have it fitted correctly now!

Again, not a bad case but it cost over double the Navitech case and it does have a nice build quality. My biggest gripe with the official Xoom case is how much play there is in the thing when on my lap. I can also imagine the lower plastic grips would eventually mark or scratch my Xoom by rubbing when you open and close it.

I can't really recommend one over the other and have decided to keep both for now but I'll primarily use the Navitech for now. If it doesn't last I have the Xoom case to fall back on.

For anyone interested in cases for their Xoom's, I hope this was at least informative! :)

Navitech xoom case

I ordered a Navitech leather case for the Xoom 3-4 weeks ago, but I still have not received it. I live in the US and paid for it on Amazon. I have contacted Navitech several times by email, but they keep asking me to wait 'for one more week.' Are these guys fraud? Should I cancel the order and go with the Motorola case? Any advise?

Thanks
Amar

I ordered my case on 5 April, shipped 14 April, delivery estimate 20 - 26 April. As of today, still not received.

Updated: I received the case about 5 May. The did get an immediate response from Navitech and they also refunded my delivery charges. BTW - I live in Arizona USA so I guess this means a longer shipping time.

I couldn't say if they are definate frauds or not but here is the time scale for our order:

Ordered 17th of April, Shipped the 20th of April (according to the email) and finally delivered by Royal Mail on the 28th of April.

I have the Official Moto case and love it. The plastic will not scratch the Xoom. It is anodized aluminum. The shiny mark you see is actually plastic that has rubbed off the case and deposited itself on the Xoom. You will notice that the plastic comes off the Xoom with just your fingernail, leaving no marks.

I like Motorola case as well Just bought it today myself.

I actually returned the Motorola Case. I didn't like how it left marks on my Xoom. Even though they rub off it still bothered me. I ended up getting the Leather one from Verizon MOTOM600FCAS1. They had 1 left in the store.

It doesn't leave marks. The mark is actually just a little bit of plastic left behind by the case. The anodized aluminum has a rough texture that acts like sandpaper. The plastic is a lot softer than the metal, so the plastic rubs off of the case, leaving a shiny mark on the Xoom. That shiny mark rubs right off. Mine has been in the Moto case for a couple weeks, and no permanent marks.

I am waiting for the leather Piel Frama Xoom case.

Yup, that kind of bothered me. I knew it wasn't really scratching it but rubbing it off was irritating :)

Motorola Case

I sliced off the tabs at the bottom to avoid the marks with no loss of function. Otherwise my only complaint is the lack of access to the lower ports (as mentioned by everyone). Overall a good case, but I also have the black rubber for use in the airplane using a RAM mount which will not work with the Motorola flip case.

Like the Navitech Case

I ordered the Navitech case and it arrived a couple of days after the estimated shipping time. From the UK to Texas that is probably understandable.

So far like the case. Fits pretty well and feels well made.

Navitech Case Stand Combo--> 20 Pics and a Video ...

Finally got my Navitech Case...
I had to email them once it became 2 days late... I don't know if I got the original shipment, or the replacement, but I got it.. And I actually do like it, it's just not perfect.

Unfortunately, they made it unavailable at amazon recently.. But it's pretty nice for $17... But i like the arkon folding stand better, although, that's not a case.

Have you gotten the Ram mount for the Xoom yet? I was told that they will start shipping it in June. I ordered mine a month ago. I also have the Motorola portfolio case and the Motorola silicone case and hope that it fits in the Ram mount with the silicone case.

I got the Navitech case in brown. It is ok, but I opted to use a different case.

It's used for about 5 minutes.

If anyone would like to make me an offer, please PM me.
