I'm talking about making that sound part of the phone's sound system. For example? When you send out a text msg or an email, with an iPhone, you get a distinctive sound. That's what i'm looking to do. If you know how to do this, please let me know. I'm rooted, and i've got ES File Mgr on my phone. Thanks.:)

Here's what works for me : name your files with no spaces in the file name and add the word "Ringtone" or "Notification" to the end depending on which sound you want it to be. IE: SongTitleRingtone.ogg (can be mp3 also). Place it in (internal) sdcard >media>audio >ringtones (or notifications). The file should now show up in the media picker.

If the sound file had a metadata tag, it will show up as whatever the tag has in its title.

Upon re-reading your last post: I'm not sure if you can do sounds when sending out texts or emails. I'll have to look into that part. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I was told by an I.T., that if those sounds aren't "built in" to the stock phone, then it can't be done. Only able to add sounds with an app like GO SMS Pro. Thanks for your help.:)
