Oh no! Battery Pull

I get my Incredible tomorrow. Upgrading from a Storm 1. SERIOUSLY?!? Battery Pulls?!? Well, at least it is not for memory leaks.

Not to dismiss those who have had to do it, but you'll notice that there are very few people complaining about this. Like I said earlier, I've never had to do a battery pull the entire time I've owned Android device, and the posts I've read where people have had to do them, it's usually due to a 3rd party app conflict. Having said that, I have probably jinxed myself and my phone will become a battery pulling nightmare.

I don't know if this is related to the memory issue(HTC Mail) or not, but as I was checking my email, I clicked on a link, and was give the "Black Screen of Death" (For lack of a better term). The screen went black/dark, the four button icon still were lit up as was the status bar at the top of the phone, ie time, battery etc... I was unable to turn off the phone with the power button, and had to pull the battery. I re read that email with the link, and re clicked it and all was fine after that...

FWIW, I haven't had to pull the battery, yet (knock on wood). This phone has been extremely stable so far and I've had it since the first week they came out.

You should never have to do a battery pull with the Incredible. If the screen is locked up to where you can't do a proper shutdown by holding the power button and choosing shutdown then do a reset of the device by pushing the power button, down volume button and the trackpad button simultaneously. This will reboot the device without having to pull the battery.

Phone's stable out of the box, I'd put money on the fact any battery pulls necessary is because of a buggy program downloaded from the marketplace.

I had to do one but the way i look at it is its something that you usually dont have to do and its a hell of a lot easier to pull a battery then to have to tweak and perform a restore on my old iphone.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try if I need to reboot again.
