In the stock gallery, I click to delete and it acts like it deleted, but it didn't. Also, when I click the pencil icon to edit, it says "this file type is not supported". Oh.... And I cannot attach photos to text messages!!

Are these photos saved to Internal Storage or the SD card? If the latter, the files or the card might be corrupt.

Hi,
I too am having the same issue on my S7 Edge.
Some details I have noticed are:
This problem only started for me yesterday; I can still delete photos taken before yesterday.
Also if I change the storage location from SD card to internal storage the issue persists.
I also cannot edit the photos using the stock gallery app and am given the error message 'This file type is no supported'.
Also when on camera, the thumbnail for the gallery does not display the most recent photo taken as it should do but displays the error icon (mountains with an exclamation mark.)
I have noticed the Gallery app recently crashing more often than before.
I am able to delete the photos in the My Files app and also through Google Photos. However, when I deleted photos using Google Photos it left grey photos with an exclamation mark in their place and these could still not be deleted!
None of my photos are set to sync or upload to any cloud storage so the issue is not related to this.
I have about 1GB free space on my SD card and over 30GB free internal storage.
I have tried rebooting the phone and clearing the cache partition, and running in safe mode but still no hope.

I Would never let storage get to below 10% - or more.

Possible you need to reformat both drives or repair the directory. Not sure if internal drive can be.

I have the same issue, which started about about 4 days ago. I have a Note 8. I cannot edit, delete, send/attach any photos regardless of whether they are saved internally or externally. I can delete files through My Files, but that's it.

Yep -- I have exact same problem. Photos from Jan 26 or earlier are fine -- problem started Jan 28. Samsung S7 on Sprint. Very frustrating.

i talked to samsung. they told me my software didn't match up and i needed to either dl it w/ a PC and do it myself or go to a samsung "experience" or something and gave me a nearby location.

i fixed it myself - i did a wipe of the device, started fresh, and all is fine now

YIKES. Wipe of the device is exactly what I'm trying to avoid though.

So... I also ended up doing a factory data reset. I spent a lot of time over the past 5 days trying to resolve the issues without doing the reset, but I think this actually saves me time in the long run and gives me closure.

I just tried switching to Google Photos instead of Gallery, and I am now able to edit photos and also send in a text or an email.

I figured it out as I was having the same issues.

You need to do the following:
Open the Settings App.
Scroll down the Settings list until you find Device Maintenance. Click on Storage.
Scroll down to the bottom of the Storage list until you see the SD card option. Click on SD card.
In the top right hand corner, click on the three dots and click on storage settings.
Under portable storage/SD card, there is an an eject button (triangle). Click on it and it will eject the SD card. Then click on the SD card again. It will say 'This SD card is unmounted. To use it, it must be mounted.
Click on the mounted button. You should now be able to delete what ever you want from the SD card with no issues....

Exact same issue here but on a note 8 running android version 7.1.1, samsung experience version 8.5, baseband version N9500ZCU2BRA2. Camera seems to crash most times I open it, especially if I open it from an unlocked phone. If the phone is locked it seems to be a little more stable. Also having same issue with gallery preview/icon not displaying in camera app, can delete files from My Files but not Gallery, cant edit any photos using stock photo editor - either says filetype not supported or app crashes.

The date you guys mentioned above and when I started having the same issue seems to coincide with when Samsung released the last update so I suspect it is related to that. I have tried all the troubleshooting (deleting camera/gallery cache/data, safe mode, suspending all apps using camera etc etc) and the only other suggestion that Samsung had was to reset the phone to factory settings which I was trying to avoid. As it seems to be related to the last update, think I'm just going to hold off in hopes the next update fixes it. Bloody annoying though as i just went away and planned to use my phone as a camera...no such luck!

Anyone know anything new? It has been like four months and my phone is still having this problem. I am still having to use workarounds, such as deleting and sharing photos using Google Photos and file browser instead of stock gallery app. I tried the above suggestions but nothing came up when I searched "Samsung Cloud" in settings.

Exact same problem. Coincided with an update so I'm sure that's what caused it. Camera app crashes unless opened from locked screen, can't delete photos thru gallery (but can through My Files), editing pics in gallery crashes the app, can't attach photos in message app or any other app other than kik. From what I've read the only solution appears to be a full restore which I'm trying to avoid. Samsung also suggested the same on the phone when I spoke with them. Waiting for oreo to be released in hopes that fixes it!
