OK Google Animation not fullscreen?

Did I mess up a setting or something in my phone to cause this? Or is the phone so new it just hasn't updated to make the phone's screen ratio/body?

Is anyone else getting this?

I attached a screenshot I tried to screenshot at the perfect time but I could only get this kind of fade but I think it shows what I'm talking about

interesting... wasn't like this on my S8. Only difference is that this one has a camera in the screen. Oh well
