"ok google detection" option missing

just bought a MotoG5+ XT1685, and the "ok google" voice recognition doesn't work. In google app>settings>voice, there simply isn't a "ok google detection" option.
If I tap the microphone symbol and speak, starting with "OK google" it works. But I can only get to this by tapping the microphone symbol.

How can I enable, or at least get to, the ok google detection feature?
It's running android 7.0, apparently fully updated.

Have you turned on your google assistant options.. If i have mine off.. as soon as I say ok google it prompts me to turn them back on

You were really close... Open the "Voice match" menu to see the option your looking for.
