OK google from lock screen

Can we invoke ok goggle voice search when the screen is off? I couldn't on my honor 8. The screen need to be on for this to work. I thought with nougat it's always on??

Dig through the Google settings. Under the voice section. There's a toggle to turn it on from any screen, including the lock screen.

Yes. I've turned it on. But the option is only for turn it on from any screen..NOT from lock screen

I guess this works only with google pixel phones..

No, it works on my Honor 8 and my old G5 from the lock screen. IDK, weird.

It works from lock screen for me as well. But does it work when the screen is off? I'd like to call someone using this while I'm driving without waking the screen up.

It did for me. I've moved on to an S8. G5 is gone, but I can say for a fact that it worked with the screen off on Marshmallow and Nougat. Same with the Honor 8.

Ok Google from the lock screen doesn't work if you have not turned on your phone. This only works in Nexus and Pixel phones. In rest of the phones you will need to first turn on.

I've accessed Google Now/Assistant.....I can't count how many times with the screen off. Both on my Honor 8 and my old G5.

I just tried now and it doesn't work.

This limitation, activating Google Now/Assistant from the lock screen with the screen turned off is a well known bug or feature depending on how you see it. This only works in Nexus/Pixel phones. The option to enable trusted voice agents is not available in non-Pixel/Nexus phones and hence you can't use it.

I am curious how is it working for you? Are you using EMUI 5.0/B360?

Okay, my bad on the Honor 8. Just broke it out and I'm wrong, no dice.

But the G5 did. I remember because my dad was baffled when I used it with the screen off. I moved on to a S8 a week ago. Wish I could post screens of the option in the settings.
