OK google has dissapeared from google search bar.

Earlier today, my phones google search bar had the text inside of it "say OK Google". Now I pick up my phone, the google search bar now has text that says "Search..." my phone will not respond to OK google. I have clicked on google settings, gone to voice, confirmed that all OK Google options are enabled even while the phone is failing to recognize the phrase. I have rebooted the phone several times. I have clicked on the google voice train and selected retrain, and the screen comes up with the text "Say OK Google three times" but this screen never recognizes when I say it either. I have wifi connection to my usual home network. OK google always worked fine here at home or anywhere outside my home routers range. I cant understand how or why this happened. Did some kind of google update happen today that killed functionality?
