"OK Google" not sending texts after Google Assistant

After getting Google Assistant, I can no longer send text messages using OK Google. The phone responds to the command and correctly composes the message. The message even makes it into the conversation thread but the recipient never gets it. I have sent and delivered confirmations enabled and I never get either check mark next to the sent message.

I use Textra but the stock app does the exact same thing. This is with a Stylo 2 Plus on T-Mobile.

No error messages are ever displayed and manually composing a message works just fine.

Anyone else experienced this?

I have experienced this on my Fossil Q Founder since updating to Android Wear 2.0 recently. Just like you, it will confirm the message before sending, and even confirm that the message was sent. If I check the message conversation on my watch, the message shows as being there. But if I check the conversation on my phone, there is no record of it and the contact never received it. On Android Wear 1, with Google assistant on my phone, Ok Google on my watch worked perfectly. I've only experienced it since updating to Android Wear 2.0

I have textra and Google assistant, and mine still works fine....

I'm on moto x pure 2015 with 6.0

As it turns out, mine is working fine too. The Textra team explained to me that Google Assistant sends texts using it's own software rather than your default messaging app and then copies the message to texts database where your app can see it. Because of that, you will see the message but never never see sent or delivered confirmations in your app because Google Assistant doesn't request them (and your app can't because request them because it didn't actually send the message).

And the people I thought were not getting my texts actually were but by coincidence just hadn't replied to the ones I had sent using voice control. Seems odd how stuff like that happens when trying to troubleshoot

So there is no problem. And BTW I can highly recommend Textra. Their support helped me figure all this out even though I told them up front I had discovered it wasn't their issue.

Good to know. Most folks do respond to my texts, at least with a simple ok, and then textra has them all there as unread when I stop my drive, so I had no idea it worked that way.

I had the same problem with Hey Google not allowing me to send texts thru my Asus. I solved it by uninstalling Google Assist and then uninstalling updates on Google. I then reinstalled Google update and tapped the Google microphone on the Hey Google. This allowed me to re-sync my contacts, re-program my voice and re-sync my Google account. Remember Hey Google uses your gmail contacts so make sure your mobile numbers on your contact list is up to date. Works great now!

But how does it actually send the message once you've composed it with your voice? It just sits there on the screen until I physically hit the send arrow in the upper right. There's no command to tell it to send and then clear away the message?
