OK Google search bar widget

OK. I placed the widget on my home page, now how do I get rid of the bland native google search bar. Don't tell me I have to be rooted to do this.

Can you long hold on it then drag it to the trashcan at the top of the screen?

Nope. Cant even highlight it to move it. Lame.

Maybe try a different launcher? It sounds like you're using the Google Now Launcher maybe? Perhaps try Nova or Apex or some other one? Don't need root for those.
