I searched but couldn't find. Does this phone have the capability to respond to "ok google" with the screen being totally OFF and locked? I've gotten it to work with the screen ON and locked....am I missing something in settings or is this not possible? TIA

Open the Google app, tap Menu>Settings>Voice>"OK Google" Detection, and make sure Always On is toggled on. (It says "Works whether the screen is on or off" underneath it.)

Ok, under "voice " I have turned on,...'from the google app' ' from any screen ' and ' trusted voice' . I don't see an always on setting....to clarify I have a moto z droid edition (Verizon)

Are you looking in the Voice menu that's in the Google app's settings menu, or is it in the phone's own system settings (i.e., Moto Voice)?

That's how it should look like.

Bear in mind that mine is an unlocked model, but since it's a Google app thing, it should be the same.

Oh whoops -- I forgot that I'm using the beta version of the Google app, which is probably why my menu replaces "From any screen" with "Always on."

I'm trying to setup the OK Google option so that it will work from any screen. It keeps stating "cannot use microphone. Restart device and try again." I restarted the device but there's no change.

I locked my phone and said, "Hello Moto Z" (my phrase), what time is it?" and the phone told me the time and took me to the PIN entry screen.

Ok Google will not work on Moto phones. You have to use Moto voice which is an overlay for Google.
