Ok, I blew it. Flashed Gingerbread ROM without kernel

First I rooted my Droid as per: Motorola Droid: Full Update Guide - CyanogenMod Wiki

Got the ROM Manager installed and working and then selected: Peter Alfonso's Stock Rooted Gingerbread ROM GPA 13 using the ROM manager, but didn't install the kernel!

Rebooted phone and it shows a M logo, blinks and gets brighter, but nothing from there.

Tried to repeat the rooting steps to reinstall the update.zip and got errors: e: update.zip install blocked and E;error in /sdcard/update.zip (Status 7) installation aborted.

Got a fresh sd card, loaded update.zip on it and repeated rooting instructions with the sbf flash. Got the update.zip to load by first selecting allow update.zip. Loaded update.zip and got message that it was successful, but still boots to M and hangs.

I would really appreciate your assistance in returning to an operating phone!

Are you talking about the Droid X? If so...

1. You tried to flash a ROM that is not for the Droid X. There are Gingerbread ROMs specifically for the Droid X that you need to install.
2. You don't even seem to understand that you cannot have a custom kernel on the Droid X.

I would SBF the phone back to stock Froyo and then wait for the OTA update if I were you.

Thank you for your reply ultravisitor!
Yes, it is the original droid.

How do I "SBF" the phone back to stock Froyo please?

That the system only version, they need the full SBF to recover the device from GB... Try this one 2shared - download VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf

Verified it for you....
