Ok u seriously need a new microsd card

I got the Kingston 16GB class 4 card from newegg recently. Works great with my EVO and I have noticed that certain things seem much faster. For instance, thumbnails are shown much quicker in the Gallery app than with the SanDisk 8GB class 2 card the phone came with.

Did you get any memory increase? I read somewhere that when you get a, faster card your phone gets a memory increase from the card....

A faster card gets you faster speed but not an increase in memory. That comes from getting a larger SD card.

Class 2 is fine for 720P recording. The choppy playback that some people have is 100% software related. Would putting a higher class solve it, sure it would. But the fact of the matter is a class 2 is more than sufficient. Not sure how long some of you have had your Evo, but I've had it since June when it had 2.1. The choppy playback was NOT an issue with 2.1. It was when the Evo's got the 2.2 update that people started getting issues. Complaints came in almost immediately. As a matter of fact, complaints about the choppy playback after 2.2 was coming in even BEFORE the "official" 2.2 update. Not sure what exactly is causing it, but it's not the SD card, it's a software issue...

I have a class 4. HUGH improvement. HD video no longer skips after a few minutes. So I would suggest at least a class 4. The one in the EVO is a class 2. Now, a 32gb class 2 is going to cost much less then a class 4 or 6.

A class 2, 32GB card will meet the needs of the Evo and the card does not have anything to do with the video quality. I have some perfect videos using the 16GB card, class 2 that comes with the Epic.

I ordered the 16 gb class 2 card. I should get it monday. My 8gig was starting to be too small.

You say it is 100% software related and then say a higher class card would help. Seems like contradictory statements.

Either way, with 2.2, my Evo wouldn't record 720p without skips and jumps within the first 10 seconds. I did nothing other than get a new 8gig class 6 card and now I can record 720p with no problems. Just recorded 2 mins with no problems at all.

So for those getting glitches when recording HD video, just spend a few bucks on a new higher class card.

Is this promotion still happening? I've tried to order from the page, but it doesn't seem to add anything to the cart.

Just paid attention when trying to add it as well, and got, sorry out of stock and cannot add to your shopping cart.

So if I do get a new microSD what is the safest/smartest/fastest way to transfer all the data to the new card?

Are there any tricks to this?

It's not contradictory at all. The fact of the matter is there's something causing the playback of HD videos to be choppy. I don't ever recall ever seeing any issues about playback problems when 2.1 was still around. I do recall very vividly when 2.2 came out complaints flooded in about it. Go search the Evo forum for "Play back" and you'll notice that there are NO threads or posts about choppy playback BEFORE the 2.2 update. As a matter of fact there was a thread made specifically about http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g/28326-choppy-720p-vid-playback-froyo.html . So it's NOT the class of the SD card that's the issue because if it was the issue would have been there in June... I also want to add that when I take my SD card out and put it in my laptops SD port... ALL of my HD videos play back PERFECTLY fine. So again.... it's NOT the SD card. I further want to add that I've used the SD card from my Evo on my Kodak Zi8 a couple of times and the 720 video also played back perfectly fine.. So if it was the SD card then a class 2 wouldn't work for any other device. As far as it being contradictory, it's not. If there is a problem with the read speed there is no reason to think that by basically giving yourself a huge amount of breathing room with the capable read speed that it wouldn't help the situation. But at the end of the day the problem is software. The issue was basically nonexistent UNTIL the 2.2 update. If the class was the issue, it would have been an issue with all Evo's on June 4th, which it wasn't. I don't know when you got your Evo but I've had mine since a week after it came out and I NEVER had an issue until 2.2 came out... And I'll state again.. Class 2 is 2mb/s which is more than enough for 720p hd recording
