Old emojis on stock keyboard (vzw n6)

So the stock keyboard has the emoji button on it, but uses the old emojis ala ics/jb days. Is this the norm?

Anyone know anything about this? I had the newer style on my s4, and i know its not just samsung. Why would the google flagship not get the newest?

Nevermind the new emojis were apparently samsungs. Found an app called "Emoji Switcher" that lets you change them to the sammy version from the S4 https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...evenschoen.emojiswitcher&hl=en&token=aXTjTi0Q (root required)
