Old phone as wifi only, getting past activation?

I have used the BestBuy method in the past to upgrade to a Samsung S5. That leaves me with an old LG Lucid2 laying around. I did a factory reset to the Lucid2. Will temporarily putting my S5 SIM into the Lucid, to activate the Lucid, cause me a problem with Vzw? I just want to use the old Lucid on wifi only. But I can't figure out how to get past the "insert SIM/activate your phone" screen on the Lucid at startup. I don't want to come up on Vzw's radar or trigger some fees or disable my current cell plan so I would like advice how to proceed. It would have been much easier had I not done a factory reset to the Lucid2. I was just being lazy and wanted to clean it of old data and settings.

You can change your device by swapping the SIM without any issues. This is as long as it is the same sim.

Just tap the 4 corners of the phone at the activation screen starting in the upper left corner and go clockwise. You should be able to bypass activation that way.

Thanks. I just installed my current working SIM in the old phone, went through setup, and it works as wifi-only device. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I tried and failed at the "tap the corners" suggestion, but was able to get the old phone working by temporarily installing the current working SIM.
