the omap was optimized for ICS just like the A5 was optimized for iOS so it's really not a fair comparison
So in regards to phones, The 4S is likely to out perform the Galaxy Nexus or do you think Google did such a great job with ICS that it will use the 4460 to the best of it's ability?
You can't compare because the two OSes are totally different. A better comparison would by Exynos (which is a sibling of the A5) and the 4460.
Don't get me wrong. I'll still take a Nexus over any iOS device any day

The CPU in the omap will be more powerfull because it is clocked at 1.2ghz vs the a5's 800mhz. The gpu in the a5 however is several times more powerfull than that of the omap
That's what I was going to say. The OMAP processor is more powerful, it's just the GPU in the A5 that kicks the heck out of the OMAP's. The one in the OMAP chip is a last generation GPU, while the A5 uses the latest SGX543. In fact, the GPU in the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus are the exact same. It's not a weak GPU by any means, it is in fact very good, but the SGX543 just kills it.
Day-to-day performance, I will say that ICS optimization for the TI OMAP will pay off and it will give very speedy performance.
If you want to talk about how the A5 (in the 4S) would stand up against the OMAP in our beloved Galaxy Nexus, I will say that the OMAP will win in processing power, but the A5 has the upper hand in graphical power.
In all honesty, I really don't care because it's dual core. You could give me an OMAP, Eynos, Snapdragon, or a Tegra because in the end your still getting a great experience. The GPU's in all of them are great for gaming too, and apparently the OMAP is the first to get Netflix Hd
If you want games get a tablet or a phone with tegra inside. Tegra is made for gaming.
No it wasn't. The OMAP is an off the shelf component, which is why Samsung/Google used it. There's nothing special about the setup that the GNex offers.
