Is anyone worried about the capabilities of the Razr because it only has an OMAP4430 especially for Games?

I don't play games on my phone so I'm not the least bit concerned about the processor being too weak.

according to the people on androidforums its an improved version of the omap4430.. I dont know if its just better wafers or what. but its supposedly not overclocked its running at 1.2 naturally

Strongest one currently available? Maybe not. Too weak for what I am going to do with the phone? Absolutely not!

Ah Yes, very much appreciate your comments.
but what im really more about is its GPU having only clocked @ 304mhz as compared to the OMAP4460 which is clocked @ 384mhz

All depends on how the device will be used. Only people who might have a concern would be those playing some high graphic games.

As for an 'improved' 4430, I sure would like to see some offficial documentation versus thoughts and dreams from people on forums.:D

as would I, but I doubt we will see anything like that.

its not unheard of for a cpu to be improved.. certain cpus run more stable and clock faster then the same cpu sitting on the shelf next to it.. all depends on the quality of the wafer and the stepcode etc.

I remember back in the day when I bought my first operton cpu for my home computer.. their were like 10 different step codes of the same exact cpu and their were 1 or 2 that were known to be way better then the rest.

I'm still going to wait for the ifixit guys to tear this baby down before I'm ready to concede it's the 4430 and not the 4460 in the RAZR. Either way, I don't think it's a deal breaker, but it still makes little sense to me why they would overclock a phone that is heralded for its battery life when it's cousin would fill the same space (and presumably, similar cost) while being underclocked, thus saving battery consumption. The "improved 4430" is plausible, but I agree that documentation would make me a believer. YMMV,

Bryan

Ditto this one. Only the teardown will give a true view. But its not a deal breaker since either SoC is pretty much identical other than clock speeds.

Honestly i think the 4430 vs 4460 debate has been looked at the wrong way when it comes to processing power. Sure the Nexus has the 4460 and the debate is in the air over the RAZR having the 30 or 60 but to be honest the 4460 is not really needed in the RAZR. Any computer guru could tell you this. Why you may ask? Resolution.

The Nexus uses the 4460 sure, but it also has a resolution of 1280 x 720.

The RAZR on the other hand is at 960 x 540.

Maybe putting a 4460 in a RAZR would be more popular but it would also be overkill because the RAZR wouldn't really utilize the extra power bump anyway.

In theory the RAZR should perform better in gaming even if using the 4430 vs the Nexus and it's 4460 due to the resolution rate.

Agree partially. I would guess since the 4460 is designed for the higher resolution, it should handle it as well as the 4430 at the lower resolution.

But, I guess we will not know until real life testing.

I agree with that as well. But that's not the case in this scenario per say.

A 4460 In a Nexus at 1280 is needed. But in a RAZR it's just overkill. Sure the 4460 would handle as well in the RAZR as a 4430 but at 960 res it just isn't needed. Throw a 60 in a RAZR and chances are it would have the same marks as if you put a 30 in a RAZR because the screen already has all the power it needs.

That not what retg meant. You just confirmed what he meant though any way so all is well.

Yeah my bad. Just looked at this post again now that I am a bit more sober haha. Read his reply wrong initialy.

Processors are outdated before the software to properly support them is even out....lol
