OMG Phil was right!

Personally I find it hilarious that people keep going back and forth over the "back" button and the "back buttons on the G4" in this thread.

Phil might be right, but no one is going to know what he was really right about just by reading the responses in this thread. 😉

Yup. That is pretty funny.

I imagine the OP is talking about the back button on navigation because Phil says Samsung puts it on the wrong side.

It doesn't matter if Phil was right or wrong. It is a personal preference, not everyone will like it. Me i like the buttons on the side.

I think they are better on the sides, it doesn't make me wrong. If i had to i could live with then on the back.

The LG G4 is pretty dissapointing..especially the plasticness of it..it is way over hyped, to me the G3 was way cooler looking and felt better in the hand honestly..I did like the 8mp front camera but that's bout it..then again my phone is top of the food chain..lol

The Edge being top of the food chain is your opinion. I played with the edge and I wouldn't take one of you gave it to me. I much prefer the G4. My sister in law has the normal S6. Battery life is crap, and she has to run it in power saver mode just to equal the battery life of her old iPhone 5.

Now you are welcome to like the Edge. That's the beauty of choice. I wouldn't say the G4 is any lower on the food chain though. :)

Oh, the OP meant the back navigation key.

I like the default placement of it, but I love how you can rearrange it to any spot you want on the navbar.

Mod Note - Keep it civil please. Expressing opinions is fine but going after each other isn't. Use the report button if needed.

Thanks!

That's the odd part. Some people report awesome battery life, others say it's horrid. I guess that goes with any phone though. Everyone's usage is different.

I'd have to say this is one of the best parts of on screen buttons. You can quite easily rearrange em to suite your needs. Since I came from a WP8 device, I'm quite used to the back function being to the left of home. (G3, but close enough at this point)

If everyone followed the rule of calling the back button the back button and buttons on the backside of the phone rear buttons, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Whaaaaaaat? No.... That would make far too much sense.

That's precisely why I prefer on-screen buttons.

On some phones, you can customize them to your preference. Button placement and even add or remove buttons for extra functionality. It's something that you can't really do on hardware buttons (unless you have some tweaks).

I never even noticed that the "back" button on my Nexus 9 was in a different location than my S4.

Then when I got the G4, the back button was bugging me, so I moved it. Then I noticed after a few hours, it was messing me up again in the new location, so I moved it back.

I realized that because I had hidden the button bar, I was used to swiping up to get to it, like I do on the Nexus. Muscle memory from using the tablet said "first you do this, then you move over here to do that"-- when the "back" button was where it was on the phone I'd been using for 2 years, it didn't correlate to muscle memory any more and messed me up-- despite the fact that I've had the Nexus 9 for much less time.

It's funny how something so little will get to you like that.
