How ironic the OP calling anyone a moron and bashing skype on user error. Please dont get so defensive when someone tells you that youre using it wrong. Ignorance is bliss my friend. Now in saying that i would recommend doing it from comp to comp first as that is where it originated. It is a lot more intuitive that way. Then once you get the feel for it then start using mobile to mobile. Just looking at the app there are a lot less options for setup or help so desktop will get you more familiar initially.
