Omg! Stop saying the one looks like the iphone 5!!!!!!

They're exactly the same they both have screens! HTC totally copied apple by putting a screen on the phone!
-_- they're nothing alike.

Close is close enough for most people. Then don't get me started on iPhone users constantly looking for validation for being an iPhone user. Try playing charades, describe without words the One then the iPhone, chances are you will use many of the same gestures, and if there are enough players there will likely be someone who guesses the Z10.

I think the similarities have much more to do with the watered down functionality of the OS's and over-simplification of the interface. Both OS's(in current form) make accessing settings difficult, predetermine what the app drawer looks like and make things nice and easy. Obviously, there is a lot to be said for this given sales of the iPhone. Sense 5 is very similar to iOS 6 in these regards but physically not so much.

Um... that's kinda all wrong.

At the end of the day both have to be somewhat similar in order to perform the same tasks. Both need speakers and a mic, both need screens and buttons and batteries and antennas and headphone sockets and so on and so forth. The point is that by the time you have shoe horned all of these ingredients together and mashed them up with a portion of ergonomics, you are going to end up with roughly similar devices. Yes they have their subtle differences but the basic layout and structure is predetermined by function.

So if it is these subtleties that make the difference in which device we choose and as far as those subtleties go, I don't think the One and the iPhone could be any more different. Apart from the compulsory functional elements, everything that can possibly be different, is different. Both have screens, but they are different shapes/sizes. Both have buttons, one is a physical key the other has capacitive touch buttons. Both have a user interface to allow us to interact with them, one is simple but inflexible, the other is complicated only by its freedom of flexibility. Both have speakers, one is made out of wilted lettuce leaves and the other is awesome.

I think they both copied Nokia. They both are a rectangle.

from what ever phone I feel like using today.

I'm just tired of hearing "the HTC one is the iPhone of android because it has aluminum." Or, the HTC one looks just like the iPhone. And for the people who get really simplistic with the similarities like "they both have speakers" are also irritating. Yes, every smartphone has speakers, a power button, volume rocker/buttons, a screen, camera, microphones, etc. But that doesn't mean they are the same.

That's probably going to be more of a problem on iMore. No one's really said that here on AC.

Actually I have seen it on here a little bit but I'm also tired of hearing it when I talk to people also. I meant it in general, not singling anyone out or anything. It was just a rant. When I seen it on one of the posts on here it just sent me over the top lol.

The Blackberry Z10 (the front, at least) is almost an exact duplicate of the black One.

OK so they're both aluminum, but aside from that? I mean, you have to realize that there are many design elements that are common among the majority of mainstream phones out there today. Once you set those aside then you have what really matters, home button placement, number of buttons, screen activation button placement, speaker placement, screen size, screen aspect ratio, etc. When you look at those things, the ones that really matter, there's no comparison.

The chamfered and polished edges aren't exactly a common feature.

I don't see any similarities at all to be honest. I've also never heard anyone make this claim.
I know, sounds pretty ludicrous doesn't it? LOL.

Oh my god, it's got a screen in the middle, they "must" have copied the iPhone... LOL....

Now that I have IOS7 running on my iPhone 5, it is absolutely right that the HTC one copied the iPhone......

Neither is aluminum on a phone, but it's ridiculous to call that copying.

I haven't heard anyone claim HTC was copying by using aluminum.
