Whenever that may be :) When upgrading to ICS, It was easy and I had no data lost and everything was as I left it including game save data etc. When going back to get on upgrade path, will I lose everything without having a Titanium backup? What will be the steps required?

What version of the ICS leak do you have on your phone? If it's 6.7.232 or lower, then you'll be able to FXZ down to .905 and get the official OTA when it finally is released. (Hopefully, it will be soon. *crossing my fingers*)

If you have 6.7.235 or 6.7.238, I hope that they will throw those people a bone and give us an easy way to upgrade to the OTA version. From what I've been reading on the Android forums, it sounds like quite a few people have made the jump to these versions of ICS.

What exactly does FXZ mean? I know in laymens terms it basically means to revert to a lower build, but I can't fine what the exact acronym means.

I think that the FXZ files are ROM flash files from Verizon that can be used with RSDLite on your computer to flash a ROM to your phone. You can google RSDLite to find where you can download this file to your computer.

Anyone else have anything to chime in with that may help us out here?

Let me sum this up. First, ALL ICS updates install on top of 5.9.905. So when the OTA comes out, you will need to be on 905 in order to take the OTA. This can NOT be done while on a leak.

FXZ files allow you to restore your phone back to 905 minty factory fresh. This is done by using RSD Lite to apply the FXZ. Your data and apps will be wiped. This will then allow you to take the OTA update. This can ONLY be done if you are on 6.7.232 or LOWER.

If you are on a 6.7.235 or higher leak, then things are WAYYYY more complicated. Those that have ignored the warnings about those builds will NOT be able to go back to 905. That would be what the warnings were all about. For you, the ONLY solution is to move forward. This is not as "simple" as installing the update since it has to install over 905. You need the boot img of the update you're wanting to install, then you need to flash the system img, preinstall img, webtop from 905, and the boot img from the new update. Then you reboot into recovery and install the update. How awesome.
