Ok...i'm losing hope here. 2nd Evo 3D...and this one is acting up too.

--Gets warm. Battery dies after a few hours when it does. (no, not in my pocket, but I was able to keep my 4G in my pocket all day!)
--Random reboots. Maybe from getting warm?
--Sense 3.0 changes settings randomly. Which calendars to sync, etc.
--Facebook for HTC also changes settings randomly.

I have also done a hard reset. I have screen turned down and every power saving measure taken without taking away from the fact this is supposed to be a SMARTPHONE, not a FREEBIE that only makes calls and does nothing else.

Do i trade in for a 3rd or just go back to my old EVO until they can get it together?

Man, it really hurts to see posts like this. For the most part all the users have positive experience with their phones, minor bugs and glitches. I would try a third device, but honestly if its not working out for you, stick to a comfortable platform.

Also i'd be curious to know what it is your doing to these phones? Booting it up strait out of the box you have these issues? Try not installing any of your apps, and just sticking with the preloaded and google apps. Then slowly add your apps back and change settings.

It could be conflicting issues due to apps. I am curious what apps you have installed and running.

I had an issue day 1 when my phone got uncontrollably hot and dropped from 40% battery down to %12 in about 10 minutes, I think this was due to me being in a poor call quality area and having the 4g radio turned on. Do you leave your 4g radio on all the time?

Return your phone and purchase the third from a different seller. Maybe a bad batch?

Hey...i SO appreciate all the input...keep it coming too.

Yes, this is booted normally straight out of the box. No live wallpaper, and I even changed the weather app to only sync every 3 hours. No 4G in my area. I even have GPS off...and no bluetooth. I keep wifi off generally. Stock card in the phone.

I have maybe 10 apps installed. General ones like Flixster, eBay, iMBD, ESV scripture app. Nothing that requires updating.

The signal strength is strong at my house, but the data speeds are HORRIBLE. I have noticed data speed is a little better at my work, and that seems to make a little difference on battery life. But again...my EVO 4G didn't drain faster at home than work. So, not sure why this would be different?

On a side note...i went thru 2 EVO 4G's when they came out due to overheating and battery life. The first one only lasted 3 hours tops. So...i'm wondering if this really is a quality issue???

My friend who bought one from Best Buy also had to return his for same issues this week. He says his second one is doing better. Maybe I need to go to a third...but I'm losing faith in HTC.

That what I'm thinking also. Something that's being restored by google is causing problems. I say after a factory reset do not allow google to restore anything so he has a clean slate. If nothing happens in an hour then for sure something thats being restored back is causing the issue.

I think though in my opinion HTC rushed to get these units out too soon. My 1st one had call quality issue in speaker mode and the screen was off centered. The demo at Best Buy also was off centered. My 2nd one is dead on centered and so far no call issues.

I am on my second. The first had those pinhole sized holes of light leakage. My second has it, but it is not as noticeable as the first phone. I also had issues with reboots. This second one has issues with gps not locking dead on, and it loses gps signal all the time when using google nav. I am going to try a third. I am not too mad, I understand these things are brand new and issues are to be expected.

I am on my first phone. It only gets hot when I play plants vs zombies, :) My data is worse now after the data fix than before. This is my first android phone, (I have a G Tab). I am happy with mine. My daughter got one also and has no problems. We got ours from the local sprint store.

The title of this thread makes me laugh. I went through like 7 Palm Pre's. I still loved that phone. My Evo 3D has been great if it were me and I liked the phone I wouldn't mine exchanging it a couple times.

mine roams more than my evo 4g did and that was almost never, but i think everyone has bad reception with the evo 3d?

Losing hope because it is clear I'm gonna have to try a third phone...and still no guarantee. I'm a htc fan...but I did this song and dance with my evo 4g. Be nice if it was sorted out first.

I am hoping I won't jinx myself now by writing this, but my Evo 3d is about as perfect as they get. No light leakage, no dead pixels, no getting hot, the battery is much better than my Evo 4G ever was, with the Space live wallpaper it runs very smooth, data speeds are ok for the most part ranging from as low as 200 to as high as 1700 on 3G. It seems like whenever the ping is really high, the data speeds drag behind too. It seems as though the phone is getting accustomed to this area and I haven't found the data speeds too much of a problem. The again, I am not really streaming YouTube videos all the time. I haven't dropped a call yet, so overall, I am very happy. I went into this with low expectations after reading and watching reviews, so I am pleasantly surprised. I know for sure that my Evo 4G barely ever got 3G speeds over 1000, and this Evo 3d gets them quite frequently at my house at different times of the day.

Hope you guys finally get one that performs as it should.

I have been loving my phone so far. No problems at all really. I would think it could be a bad batch. Give it one more try before you try something different. I myself have a three strike rule.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones too. Got mine on 6/23 and it has worked perfectly. No problems whatsoever with the exception of lag before I updated my profile. Based on the reviews I'd read I was a little hesitant but I'm so glad I decided to go with this phone after all.

Also on second device. First one overheated and died. Second one working like a dream so far.

this is the type of stuff you get from being an early adopter. If you are so set on your device working perfectly as soon as you get it, go back to your old phone and wait eight more months. I, for one, am ok with some issues as i expect them. Laboratory tests and real world tests are completely different and its only been out a week.
