i am on my second 3d, first would lock up for no reason,the only app I had downloaded was shazam, this is my second one, and it just constantly reboots, no apps loaded, no music or pics transferred, at the crossroads with this phone, I really loved my pre, but there are no apps for it. Dont know anything about andriod phones, can anyone give suggestions on this reboot issue I am having

Zenet2, I had the EVO 4G for the last year...and never these issues. I just swapped my EVO 3D out for the third time. I've got my fingers crossed. Android is not the issue here...it is HTC it appears...either hardware or software (Sense UI) or both combined.
If this doesn't work out...I'm going back to the EVO 4G. Still the best smartphone I've used up to this point. Hoping I can say the same about the 3D.

that sucks... I actually like the 3D coming from a Samsung fan , I had to order a replacement due to dead pixels but overall the phone has not giving me issues like yours have, only thing I noticed it gets really warm when charging.... Hopefully this new replacement won't be bad I'm about to activate it in a few.
What seems odd is that this isn't a common issue, yet it's happened to you with 2 phones now and the same thing happened with 2 4G's last year?

I do think sprint service here is shoddy...but the best guy said I'm not the first to return theirs. With regards to my first 4g...that was clearly a build quality issue. The third one was a champ and had great battery life and lasted the whole year with no issues until I traded up for 3d.
On that build quality issue...this third one has the light leak pinholes others have mentioned. But it's a cosmetic issue hopefully.
Traded mine in today for a new one. Old one would reboot all the time and freeze up. New one is good so far which is nice.
Msp-droid...did it get warm too? Battery life? I think there are some software updates htc needs to focus on ASAP. My wife has the epic 4g...but I have been a htc fan over samsung for a few years now. But if this keeps up...I'll be counting days to sprints version of the galaxy 2.
So far the only issue I am having with mines is the speaker when is call is really low at max volume, nowhere near as loud as it is when im playing music. My sister 3D so far 6 days later the screen stopped responding and then rebooted and now the screen is black and only the bottom icons are lighting up gotta go putup with the sprint store on a sunday, so i dont hear her mouth.
I am on my second as well. My 1st one would just freeze out of the blue and the buttons on the bottom would be lit up (At least 10 or more freezes in a day an a half). However, the screen would be black and the phone would not respond. I would have to remove the battery each time. Initially I thought it was because I had not applied the update, but when I bought my wife one the next day, hers did not show any problems. I took it back to sprint the next day and of course my local sprint store computers were down and I ended up having to go across town to get a replacement. So far this one seems solid. I did notice it gets warm from time to time and I am seeing the sync icon up in the notification area more frequently than I ever saw it on my OG EvO.
the battery on the new one seems much better than the old one. they won't didn't get too warm though.
one thing i havn't done yet is apply the htc fota update to the new one. figured it was working fine so far and didn't want to screw it up
That's funny...I delayed installing it as well. I got the notices popping up tho...so I did it just about an hour ago. Hope that didn't kick me back into overheating and battery issues.

Wow!!! Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with yours. I know how disappointing it can be when you are excited to get something and it doesn't work properly. There's nothing you could do that's making it up like that. At least not out the box. If you were rooted that would be a different thing. I will tell you this, this phone is one of the best if not The best out right now. I would give it one more shot, but then again, mine worked from the jump, so I may be a bit biased.

I'm sorry to hear about your dud streak. If it were me, I'd give it another shot, maybe try to make sure you're not getting them from the same batch/lot.
I pre-ordered mine being somewhat skeptical, and so far it hasn't failed to impress me. I consider myself fortunate that I've had good luck with both the 3D and in pre-ordering the original 4G, not having a lot of the problems that seemed to be plaguing a good number of folks.

I love that I have found a supportive community here...that helps highlight the best of android and helps with the weaknesses.
Heres two observations...purely from my experience with my third evo 3d...
Don't keep Facebook for htc on any form of constant sync. When mine is...it gets warm and then battery dies fast. Turn off Facebook sync...golden.
I have also noticed Facebook for htc is buggy on the 3d. I have to try several times to upload a pic...and even then it gets hung up at 100% and then reloads 2 or 3 more times. It also randomly changes settings.
Leave wifi on. My battery life has been better. Maybe it has an easier time with the push email account, since sprints network has gone to crap where I live and where I work. Either way...it has actually helped my battery to leave it on.

Thats what happens with mine now...Except I get errors like "Htc sense 3.0 error must foreclose". Once that happens.. Well... I have to restart without htc sense phone is no good.

-Phone screen goes black but buttons stays on And i have to pull battery out couple times through out the day.
-My keyboard sometimes dissapears and won't come back, I have to restart my phone.
-Internet works every now and then I have to be lucky. Also own an Epic.. Works perfect never had an issue so I know its the phone
This phone is driving me nuts.. I hope theres a fix soon too all of this...
