On my Nexus 7, why are the wifi bars white?

Nexus 7 Wifi bars are white

My Nexus is connected to internet and has good signal strength but the bars are white not blue and I cant access internet? Is there anything I can do?

You must be on jelly bean? The bars are supposed to be white in kit Kat.

Yeah ditto on kitkat 4.4 they are white, as seen in my screen shot. Besides in jellybean didn't they go grey when not connected to the Internet?

I think the OP is on KitKat but used to JB so not realizing that it is always white on KK and that you have to go to the notifications pull down to see the orange color or the little arrows to know if you are actually connected to the Internet.

As for accessing the Internet, turn airplane mode on then off and you'll be okay. For permanent fix, you have to set your Wifi SSID mode from like DCHP to static WHILE IT IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.
