One Mini camera in apps

I'm trying to use the camera function in redlaser and myfitnesspal but it will not focus no matter where I move the object or the lighting. Is there a way to manually focus in app? Pressing the screen as you would normally does nothing.

Might wanna ask in HTC One forums as they get a lot more traffic and it'll almost certainly be the same between the two phones. I don't know the answer sorry.
