Good thoughts on your experience.

In my mind, here the things that would make me never go to an iPhone again (I had an iPhone 4 once).

- Lack of a notification light.
- Lack of a file manager...... i seriously, seriously don't understand how anyone can use an iOS device in place of a computer without this. Or even for getting anything done. This is an absolute necessity for any computing platform, just a way to manage files within the device itself. I don't know how more people don't complain about this...
- Serious lack of custimzeability..... what if I don't like the stock keyboard? What if I don't like stock messaging? Browser? Etc..... cant really change those things to default on iOS.
- No real useful voice assistant (this is a new difference after Android 4.1).... Google Now is unmatched. Period.
- No NFC. This is a very useful technology. Making payments, transferring small files, pairing with speakers and other things.... I use NFC tags at home and at work. When I get to work, I tap on my NFC tag and it puts my phone in work mode, changing everything from ringer, to volume, to brightness, bluetooth, and even opens up an app for me. When I am in my car, car mode, and when I am at home... home mode.
- I can't change the home screen. I can pick up anyone's iPhone and be able to use it. Not the case with Android because I make my phone exclusively MINE. There is no notification bar, I have no app drawer on the bottom, and my quick gestures allow me to access things faster. I use a little bit more battery life getting all this done, but it makes my phone mine. I really like that.
- What's up the email app?! Why can't I attach anything other than one picture from the gallery to that app? WHy can't I attach a file like a spreadsheet, or a PDF? How any business person has been able to use an iPhone is beyond me....

Oh WOW!! Are you serious man??? The Iphone lacks all of these key features?? Thats craziness forreal and I can't see how Apple is still in the "smartphone" business if they don't have those basic features..Pathetic!

The One is my first android phone. I switched from an iphone4s.

For me the experience is completely different then yours. I love the screen, the keyboard, as well but the customization of the home screens is one of my favorite things in this phone! I also like the speed of the one.

I feel like it is just as smooth at iOS with the exception of my Facebook and Netflix apps they seem yo struggle with scrolling.

I'm very glad I switched, even with ios7 I don't think I would want to go back. The only complaint that I have with my One is that I don't have a couple of apps I had on my iPhone, specifically vudu and amazon video. Also a couple of jailbreak tweaks i had installed in my iphone but those dont really count because the we re jail break features. I can get everything else on my One that I had on the 4s

Also I get like the 4s was to small for my hands this fits much better. My hand actually struggled using the iPhone one handed because the iphone was so narrow it was uncomfortable.

I'm staying ...

I'd love to have an official Amazon video app in the Play Store. I know there is one for the new Asus Cube, so maybe we'll see a port of that for phones/tablets someday.

-With the notification light, you can use the iPhone's LED camera flash as one, apparently. I had no idea until literally today. I was standing in line buying some groceries after work and someone's phone went off, and their LED started flashing. So, neat, might have been nice to know when I still had service to my iPhone, lol.

-iPhone users just want things to work. They don't want to be bothered with stuff like that. Being one for as long as I was, I know. :P

-Nope, you're stuck. Again though, most people using an iPhone don't want to be bothered. They want to just do their thing. There's nothing wrong with that.

-Never used Google Now, can't comment on it. Just doesn't interest me.

-I don't have a use for NFC, at least yet.

-That's something I;m coming to love about Android. My phone is mine. My launchers, my icon arrangement, my widgets, my setup is likely unique to me. Not so with an iPhone user, where every iOS device with widgets has the same weather and stock widget in the notification center.

-I thought business people used Blackberries, they ARE business phones after all... is anyone seriously using an iPhone for that?

- I have seen that flash thing. It's not a notification light. What that does is BLIND you when you get a new text, but it stops there. The notification lights on Android continue to dimly glow when you have an unanswered notification. When I had an iPhone, I had to grab it and turn it on in order to see if I had anything missed.

- I don't get the comment of "just want things to work." My file manager works fine. And if you don't need to use it, then don't use it. But I am sure that most people that have an Android phone have used it, and don't even know it. For example: attaching stuff to emails or sending any kind of file to cloud storage. I simply am at a loss for words as to how people have lived without this on a so called "smartphone" or "post-pc device."

- Again, it's not about bothering. If you like the stock stuff, then Android doesn't bother you, as you can just use it and NEVER know that there are alternative options. It works just fine out of the box, without customizing. However, for people that prefer something different, the beauty of Android is that they CAN have it.

- Google Now doesn't interest you because you have never used it. If you give it a try, you will see how genius it is, and you will understand what I mean.

- NFC.... see Google Now reason above... same thing.

- Yes, making your phone yours is quite a quality.

- iPhones are used almost as often for business. How? I have NO CLUE. lol. I would think that the thing a business does most is communicate. iMessage helps, but no way to truly send email attachments>??? Seriously?? I'm sorry to keep coming back to this but my jaw drops when after 6 years of being out, there is still no way to attach stuff to the email app other than one picture from the gallery.

Some very interesting comments and replies. My thoughts...........

Re. Widgets, while I agree about the usefulness of most widgets there are some exceptions. The best ones allow you to get an overview of information or interact quickly with an app without having to go into the app itself, for example I use the gmail widget to prioritise emails, I can look quickly through a bunch of messages and can go straight into anything urgent without having to bother with anything that can be left until later, same with things like twitter, widgets can be a timesaver.

File management, iOS v android. For me, this is without a doubt the number one deal breaker when it comes to a choice of os. In our busy household there are a number of devices, phones, laptops and tablets etc that share our combined library of media, movies, music, TV shows etc, all in various formats and all stored centrally on our home network. I know that it would be possible to do this with iOS, but android makes it so much simpler, I never have to worry about file formats or compatibility and I never have to worry about what is imported to where on which device. My wife has finally moved from her iPhone to android but we still have two iPads on the go and getting media into them is just a nightmare. The problem is that Apple never intended for iOS to be a stand alone platform, all iPods/pads/phones are designed to be supplementary devices, and that means that in order to get full functionality out of them, you have to plug them into a PC or Mac. Not a problem for the vast majority of people who own computers, but I ditched mine 18 months ago and have been 100% Android ever since. If I could not just drag and drop any kind of file I wanted straight onto my devices, I would be stuck.

Amazon video? Lovefilm? Another deal breaker. I would sign up to Lovefilm tomorrow if I could watch it on my phone and my tablet. Netflix do it and Amazon do it on the kindle Fire, which is basically just an Android tablet, so why no general release? I don't understand the exclusion, you can watch it on most devices but not Android because Amazon has its own version? Seems to be limiting their own market if you ask me, I am not about to buy a Kindle purely to watch Lovefilm on and I won't buy Lovefilm until i can watch it on all of my devices, I can watch Lovefilm on my big screen TV but not anywhere else in the house, so sorry Amazon, no subscription for me.

The problem with that is it would take away an exclusive feature of the Kindle Fire line of tablets.

If you have used an iPhone for a long time, you can see why people call it "boring" but you can also see why it is the most popular phone out there. It is a very intuitive and easy to use device that has not changed drastically since the beginning. Android is a totally different animal that changes from one device to another and offers customization to the point of making even a one month user cross-eyed. I think it takes more than one month to become accustomed to the One...... or any Android if you've been on iPhone for a long time.
