I've had this phone for over a week now, and I love it except for one little flaw that drives me nuts!
The inability to turn off the screen using the fingerprint scanner!. A habit I take for granted. It feels so awkward to reach to the left to press the power button.

I bet there's a way to do that with Nova Launcher

Yes. I do it all the time and act surprised when it doesn't work. Hard habit to break.

There is but I have been pretty much all Action Launcher lately. Tasker can too. If I can find the right activity in AL...
