One UI gestures

I will be coming from the Xs max where I’m so used to gestures so I plan to give it a go on the S10 plus

Those who have one UI already what you think of them in comparison? Do you like them or do you stick with the onscreen buttons?

I hate the One UI gestures. They are pointless imo. Swiping in place of buttons isn't easier to me and it causes some things that you don't want to happen sometimes. All it does is save a tiny bit of screen real estate. I much prefer the on screen buttons. It's actually faster and more accurate for me personally.

I’ve always liked the option of on screen buttons so I may keep it as it is but guess I’m so used to gestures would be easy to stick with it

I love the gestures. At first I thought no way I would like but decided I would try at least for a week and decided after the week to keep that way.

This! I found the gestures quite easy to work with - swiping up from the bottom is quite easy and I find that I like the fact that all of them are basically the same motion - the only difference is where you start the gesture from. I have gotten so used to it that I don't think I will go back to the buttons. I find them much more consistent than the gestures on the Pixel 3.

I hate them too, like they had to try and think of something different for the sake of it. I find them unintuitive and inferior to buttons. I also prefer every other incarnation of gestures even those on the pixel.

If you must have gestures then fluid navigation is a much better option. I just hate having to use a 3rd party app for such things.

IMO One UI gestures on N9 is not as smooth as it is on P3XL. But even the gestures on P3XL is not as smooth as iOS again IMO.

I used them on the Note 9 with One UI and hated them with passion. Totally worthless compared to the gestures on my XS Max so I went back with onscreen buttons and will continue with that on the S10

When I try them on my s9+, I always end up turning them off for the following reasons:

• A tap is faster than a swipe. I'm talking fractions of a second, but it adds up.
• The back gesture specifically doesn't always take and I have to do it again.
• With swiping for home turned on from the bottom, it takes away my ability to tap and hold for Google Assistant. This was mitigated somewhat by being able to remap the Bixby button to Google Assistant, but it still irks.
• Finally, there is too much swiping down there. A swipe up in the home spot can do one of the following three things:

  [*]Open the app drawer
  [*]Open Samsung Pay​
• IMO, they need to completely rethink the system.

That's just my opinion.

I really don’t like cluttered home screens so I like swiping / gestures lot. They allow me to customize the look and feel of my home screen while still having quick access the the apps and functions I use most.

Yeah I'm gonna try the gestures out. It made sense to use buttons when I had a physical home button (for these purposes I'm counting the under-the-screen button on the S8 - Note9 as physical). Now that that's gone, I'll see if gestures are more intuitive. After my Note 9 upgraded to OneUI I tried out the gestures for awhile, and they seem to make sense. Looking forward to tomorrow when I've got the S10+!
