Onedrive Integration?

How do I turn on the Samsung OneDrive backup? I thought it was only available for Android 10 beta testers at this point?

I actually like the Microsoft integration. More space without having to pay for another account storage.

Exactly. Many of the people who don't like it, just don't like Microsoft. Since Microsoft dumped Windows Mobile, it has really stepped up its cross platform game. Microsoft realized right off that instead of trying to compete in a saturated market, it decided to leverage those markets. In other words, Nadella is going back to what Bill Gates envisioned. Microsoft software running on every computer. Now, instead of just targeting the laptop/desktop space, it is now kicking in the door for the mobile space.

I get better integration between my Surface Pro 5, Galaxy Note 10+, Dell desktop, and Galaxy Tab S5e, than I did just a couple years ago. If I were to actually measure how much into each major ecosystem I am using, it would be:

Microsoft: 90-95%
Google: 5-10%
Apple: 0-1%

I have stuff backed up to both Google and Samsung Cloud. I also pay for iCloud storage b/c I use a lot of Apple products, and I almost always end up back on iOS as my daily driver. I haven't been tempted since the Note though.

That's one of my issues. OneDrive is ugly as sin, and I don't care for the layout either. I also take the time to keep all my photos in separate albums on my devices, but OneDrive doesn't save those albums. Google Photos doesn't either.
I also have iCloud since I have pretty much every Apple product. But I don't save my contacts and other stuff I need across other platforms there. I back up photos there just because it's one more redundant backup. But Google photos is my main one which I use across devices.

Yeah I do hope Microsoft puts more focus on OneDrive UI and performance, not well designed for use.

Was definitely surprised how easy I can communicate with my note 10+ with my ultrabooks without having to plug it in or even be on wifi. The experience is something I've never knew I needed.

I like OneDrive, I have one TB of OneDrive storage from my personal O365 account and 1 TB from my company's O365. I also have 1 TB from Google being a Google Fiber customer. I find Dropbox pretty useless these days. I have never tried the Samsung cloud.

The UI for OneDrive is fine for me. I can get my work done and I love the continual integration work with MS.

Yeah, the UI for OneDrive is fine. I have 1TB of OneDrive because I am an Office 365 subscriber. It's especially convenient when syncing photos. My photos upload via OneDrive, which makes it easily accessible from ANY other device. Especially, my desktop where I do the majority of my image processing.

By the way, that cross platform syncing is also via Edge. I don't even use Chrome anymore. The new Edge syncs across my devices too. Not only that, I use Microsoft Launcher on my Note 10+ and my Tab S5e, which gives me even more integration.

Like I said; the people who don't like it are the same people who just don't like Microsoft on principle. In some ways, I can't blame them because of, well, Balmer. He screwed up a lot when he was running the company. Nadella had to unscrew what he screwed up.

Back to my original question. Is the OneDrive integration just for Android 10 beta, or is it for everyone? I'd like to turn on OneDrive integration.

It didn't show up for me until the 2nd beta update. I thought I mentioned that earlier, but I may have forgotten. Sorry

As far as the UI goes it's very dated with those stupid looking file icons, and it doesn't backup any of the albums I made on my Note. That's my biggest issue. It's just a rows of pics by date that aren't even correct. I have several that are listed from Nov 2019 that I checked the details of after the update and they range in age from 2008-2017. Plus getting so little storage free when Samsung gave more is taking away storage for those of us that don't already subscribe to 365.

I don't hate Microsoft, but I don't use it except for work. I get that it'll work for many. It's just not a beneficial switch for me to lose storage, and to have to deal with a 3rd party when Samsung's worked well for me.

Thanks. No worries. I think it was mentioned in the Android 10 beta thread. I'm not an Android 10 beta tester, so I'm not following that thread that closely. When I saw this thread, I was hoping that Samsung had added OneDrive integration for us Android 9 peasants.

Hahaha!! Shouldn't be but a few more months. Android 10 is scheduled for Feb for the Note 10/10+ in the US

I run MS 365 Business premium on my laptop and PC. Integration with Note Mobile office and onedrive is seamless. Photo backup was recently included into tbe Business Premium.

I'm very happy about the cooperation between Samsung and Microsoft.

Hang on, I have a personal OneDrive account (since I have a personal domain, and Office 365).
How is said update different from me simply using OneDrive on my Note 10+?

Confused...

What will happen is that you can sync Gallery (photos and videos) to your OneDrive account directly instead of syncing to Samsung Cloud.

You would still need to use the OneDrive app to access other files from your phone. In a nutshell, it is doing the same thing that Google Photos does. I prefer this to Google Photos because I can access my OneDrive pictures folder from my desktop or Surface Pro without using a web browser.

Currently, it is only available in Korea and for Android 10 beta testers.

Thanks for taking the time to share the info...!

I've been syncing my phone photos to OneDrive for years. What's different now?
