OnePlus 5 Fantastic battery life

Decided to test this myself since video is a big part of my phone usage when I take long airplane trips. I transferred over to my phone a 2008 movie about a certain man who dresses as a bat. It a 10.9GB mkv file for a 1080p movie. Charged the phone to 100% then started playing the movie and unplugged. To be completely fair, I manually set brightness to 100% and volume to 80% (on earphones). The movie is 2:32:13 long. I used BSPlayer Pro since that is the app I use for all my videos.

Here are my battery screens as soon as it ended.

As you can see, a 2.5 hour movie at max brightness used only 15% of my battery life. I checked afterwords and I had 29 apps running simultaneously in the background (and this excludes the battery and pictures app which i opened afterwards).

Can't run this test on an HTC 11 since I don't have one, but I am incredibly happy with the results I got.
My Moto would be on 40% without the battery mod

So that's pretty good

I'm getting about 7 hours SOT on days where I'm just home on Wi-Fi doing YouTube, texting, and a handful of other apps, buuut I keep my display at less than 25 percent indoors, so I guess I don't count? Lol

10% remaining with 10 hours screen on. Quite impressed given the amount of chat and video I've done today.

The battery life and the smooth and quick Android experience are two things I am looking forward to when I get my OP5!

Battery life is key for me. My S6 had horrible battery life. The S7 was better, but my S8 gets awesome life (so far).
most days, I can unplug around 6:30 amd still have 50% or more at 5PM.

I also noticed that when I don't plug in overnight when I still have 45% or more, and wait till the next day to charge, battery life is better.

I may buy one as a back up device if the battery life is better than my S8, it will become the backup device.

Has anyone noticed reduced battery life with the 4.5.5 update? Mine seems to have gone down since the update. I wiped the cache after the update but did not seem to do any better.

Haven't noticed a decline, but i have noticed on past devices that the battery seems a little worse for a week or so, then trends to stabilise.

Hopefully that's what will happen for you.

Anyone know how Battery Life is when using the GPS?

I don't have any stats or data to cite, but anecdotally it seems pretty good, taking GPS in stride. The couple times I've used Google navigation for 30 minutes at a time or so didn't take a huge chunk out of my battery, compared to other devices I've had, where I can feel phone getting hot and tired in my hand haha.

My battery life was not fantastic, it seemed to drain down very quickly. So my daughter lowered the amount of time it stood idle or on stand by from 30 minutes to 5 minutes and this improved it. She also switched my WiFi off when not in use.

I was wondering about the battery life myself..how did it hold up in comparison to the competitors! lol:cool:

I don't have another Snapdragon 835 phone so I can't give you any comparison but Snapdragon 835 is very efficient so I'd expect good result for other competitors.

All the newer phone components, screen 835 processor, etc use less power that previous generation. And batteries keep getting better power density. Amazing what can be done today !

The battery here is very important impressive ! They have nailed the dash charge. I think OP5 is ahead of every smartphone considering this feature. But u Kno is this a matter of few mins I guess considering the latest offerings.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the battery life on my OP5. I get between 5 and 6 hrs of screen on time. Moderate to heavy use depending on the day.
