Will the new OnePlus 6 work on Project FI using the T-Mobile band? I know it will not support switching but I want to make sure it will support LTE on T-Mobile.

Welcome to AC.

If it supports LTE on T-Mobile it should work. You will need a supported device in order to activate service if you don't already have it though.

I don't want to spread falsehoods, but early on there were reports of people having their service terminated because they were not using a supported device. This may not be happening anymore but it's something to be aware of.

Okay thanks. Yes I have a device to activate service.

I am using OP3T but have same restrictions as I did on note 5:

No carrier switching, just T-Mobile
Outgoing MMS through hangouts(or other apps) is always blury
Trying to switch default SMS app will result in all incoming messages still being delivered to hangouts app.

fi uses T-Mobile and sprint. The op6 is GSM unlocked and can't be used on Sprints nertowrk

I know this is 6 weeks old, but it should be noted that unsupported devices will only use the T-Mobile network so this doesn't much matter...

yes but its t-mobile and sprint, so if your in a bad area for t-mobile you won't be able to use sprint towers. Which is why truly unlocked phones are best.

Yes, I recognize that Fi runs on T-Mobile and Sprint, it also uses US Cellular. No, truly unlocked phones are not "best" for Fi, only the devices on the compatibility list are as those are the only devices that support the carrier switching.

For immediate carrier switching (like when in a call) you need a phone certified for Fi. To use other phones they need to be in the compatibility list. Just because they are unlocked does not mean they will work. My Google Nexus 5 is not in that list and will not work.
