Compared to what? All smartphones, iPhone included, get really warm when playing games for an extended period of time.

Do you get a system overheat message? Then that is an issue.

If it just feels warm/hot to the touch, it may not be an issue. You would be surprised how hot these things can get before they actually have an issue. Jerry has mentioned that on the podcast before as well.
