I buy a lot of phones because I like to see what's out there, sort of a hobby. I've had Samsungs for at least the last 15 years (probably longer) before the S series even came out. Over the last few years Sammy seems to be going stale, the company that gave us the Note, light notifications on the screen, the SPen and a whole lot more seems to be now characterized by timidity and lack of innovation. I'm just not sure about the S26 series that's upcoming.

On the other hand I thought I might give Oneplus another chance (bought one in June but sold it because of really bad customer service experience.

But everything i keep reading talks about downgraded cameras, downgraded screen and now overheating issues.

I bought an S25 Ultra during pre-order, bought a Oneplus 13 in June, a Z Fold 7 during pre-order which I'm using now. Thought I was all set to order the Oneplus 15 but I'm no longer convinced about that at all. And, who knows what the S26 line up is going to be yet! Knowing Samsung it will be really minor upgrades with a couple of current features removed.

We need some newer, more forward looking manufacturers and even another OS to choose from wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm really hoping OnePlus drops the Open 2 this year. For me foldable phones are were it is at for functionality and usability. I have the Z Fold 7 and the Oppo Find n5 and silicone batteries are what every cell phone manufacturer should be offering.

I think that many years ago my jump from Samsung was from the S3 to the Nexus 6p and it was like night and day.. From decent but bog standard to the shape of things to come. I've been a Pixel boy since then, mostly because of the straightforward vanilla Android and brilliant cameras. I feel like Google has become a bit staid and predictable and I just needed a change. I saw the Tech Spurt review of the Oppo Find x9 Pro in the UK and was sold immediately. I haven't been disappointed in any way by this phone. It's so refreshing to use, a bit different but a really good different. Cameras are where the Pixel line should be and the Mediatek chip is so fast.. Over the moon with this purchase..
