OnePlus Watch 3

Did anyone get the recent update on their oneplus watch 3? I got a large update last night. I took my watch off the charger this morning at 10am. I had to go into the office today. It's 11pm and my watch is at 92% battery.

I'm getting ready to order this watch. I'm watching one on eBay that is gently used. If I can't get that one, I'll just order one from OnePlus or Best Buy as BB offers 12 month interest free financing, which I've used before. I'll be selling my Garmin forerunner 255.

What are they going for on eBay ?

Well, I was outbid on the watch on eBay by .50. I placed my highest bid at $217 and went to bed because it ended at like midnight. I wasn't staying up to get into a bidding war. All the other ones on eBay are selling for around $250. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy a used one for $250 or just buy a brand new one. If I can't get one for close to $200, I'll just end up buying it brand new for $300. Maybe OnePlus will have a sale or something going on in the next month or so around Black Friday.

I'm really not in a hurry to get one as my Garmin works fine right now.

It seems the older I get, the less impulsive I am with my spending habits. I want to have a good reason for buying something and if I can't come up with a good practical reason, I won't spend the money on it.

I was enticed by the low price on this particular one but I'm not going to spend $250 on a $300 used watch. I still have to sell my Garmin and I know that it will offset the out of pocket expense. But a watch is a secondary accessory to a phone.

I'm even looking at and considering the OP watch 2R. It's similar to the 3 in battery life but doesn't have the rotating crown and has an aluminum frame instead of titanium. But it's like $179 brand new.

Oneplus Watch has a dual OS setup. Wear OS and a RTOS [Real Time OS]. The pre built watch faces are optimized for both scenarios , I assume and if say, AOD is enabled, Wear OS won't be running in the background. It would be RTOS and the watch face would still work. Third party watch faces might compel/force the watch to use Wear OS at all times, creating unnecessary load.

This dual OS is the reason why OnePlus can crank 3-4 days with AOD enabled when even GW Ultra will have trouble hitting that mark. Interestingly, Mobvoi has a different trick up it's sleeve. Their watches have a dual screen setup; with the low power display being used for stuff like AODs. This again make TicWatches last significantly longer than Pixel or Galaxy Watch.

This is one reason why I wanted one. Juan Bagnell's video on it really sold me on it. I also bought the OnePlus Buds 3 after watching his review on them and I've not been disappointed in them at all. I've been using the OPB3 for almost 2 years. I had my first pair replaced by OP when the mic stopped working on the right bud.

The design of the Watch 3 is also .

Meanwhile, I had to get my Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 send in THRICE [though ultimately got the newer MTW 4 model] because the quality control is so dense. Scrolling once through the Sennheiser sub and one had realize that the company mucked up three consecutive generations of their wireless buds.

I also got the Pixel Buds Pro 2 but whilst they are quite compact, the gesture nature instead of touch based control irritates me; not to mention that it is non customizable on the Pixel Buds. They also have slightly poor ANC performance vis a vis Sennheiser's flagship model [Though I still assume the most effective ANC is still on Bose' Quiet Comfort even if they sell for somewhat higher prices].

Less than a day with this watch and I'm loving it so far. This watch face is fire btw. It's Dream 133 from the PlayStore for Wear OS.

Not too bad for just under $200. It came with a 3rd party silver band, the stock green band, and a screen protector installed on it. Barely used at all.
