Hey guys I received my Oneplus 7 Pro yesterday and its a great phone but I found a problem. If I go to Setting-System-Backup, under Google Backup the Backup Now button is greyed out.

I did some Googling and found a temp fix which worked for another Android Device. If you disable the screen lock by not securing the OnePlus with a code or password then go back to Backup, the Backup Now button is now enabled, but as soon as you put screen lock back on it greys out again.

Also there is a message under each item waiting to be backed up such as App Data, the message is waiting to Backup.Anyone else seen this problem on any other devices and is there a perm fix?

Update *** I reset my phone to factory defaults and went through the whole setup process same issue. Don't understand what's going on.

I'm not having any issues with Google photos back up on mine. I do have screen lock and fingerprint sensor setup and back up works as expected without any issues. Have you installed any apps to disable some stuff or did you go and disable background services or something like that? The behavior you are seeing is not normal unless you have modified some stuff on the phone. Worst case probably do a reset and try.

Its not Google Photos its Google Backup itself where you can backup text message apps etc. Go to Setting-System-Backup, under Google Backup the Backup Now button, see if the backup now button is greyed out.

Update the Google app and restart the phone. That should fix the problem. Be sure to tap on the account just below the "back up now" button and the box will turn blue. It did for me.

Ah my bad, yeah I do see backup is grayed up.

Here is the status of backup. It says contacts are backed up 4 hours back and for others it says waiting for back up. I'm on WiFi and plugged in charger also to see if that triggers the backup. Nothing, weird.

Hmm my Google app (beta) is up to date, tried your method and the back up button was still greyed out.

Did all that nothing. The only way to get the Backup Now button to light up and do a backup is if you remove your home screen lock pin and have no home lock enabled. Weird. I disabled the Lock Home screen and was able to do a backup. I read on different sites this is a known issue with Pie.

Strange. Mine was greyed out too. Did the actions I suggested and it turned blue. Do you have more than one Google account?

Also...why is your Google app beta?

Are you already running unofficial Android Q on your device? Why did you specify the app was beta?
It was me who specified Google app was beta, that's just signing up for beta via play store so that you get Google app update faster. That shouldn't matter since op isn't running beta version of app. And only one Google account.

I didn't specify my app was beta it was bhatech, he responded to my post. I am on Pie latest security and updates. No beta

I have 5 different Gmail accounts setup on my phone, I use to have a Galaxy s10 plus with multiple accounts and never had a problem.

Yeah I don't have this issue on other phones. Just checked my Pixel 3 XL which is also on Pie and has the same set of apps as my OP7 pro etc. Backup button on my pixel 3 XL is enabled, it's only on the OnePlus 7 pro it's disabled.

Ahhh apologies. Very odd though.

Have you tried clearing the app cache? I know the phone is new and all, but still. Also I would check to make sure all the permissions are toggled on.

I have the same issue. I came from a OnePlus 6. I googled it and the temp fix is to manually backup using ADB via USB thru the computer. I'm going to try tonight and report back.
